**Read me!**
I put a lot of time and effort into each post and yet no one votes or even looks at them. I thought Steemit was a community of people who enjoyed creativity but it seems like everyone only cares about the money.
NEWS FLASH you can't make money by not pivoting and replying to other Steemit-teers! I spend days writing 1 chapter of what I believe is a very impactful story, but no one gives it a chance so maybe I should give up and continue working my 9-5 job.
It is true what you say, there are people who give votes without having read an article just for money. In my case, I only give votes to those articles that are very interesting!

The very first mistake you are doing is self voting your post the moment you post, that takes away any curation, to people who vote your post.
And certainly, quality content is the key to get good votes.
I used to never vote for myself but it got embarrassing seeing 0 votes 0 comments on the majority of my posts, and I believe I'm putting out good quality content (If you look at my blog you'll see it's not just some garbage posted lol) I just feel like I'm not appreciated on here
You have hardly written 15 posts. And at least I don't think majority of them are very good.
How did you get to where you are honestly
Everything is on blockchain and you can for sure find out that it has not been an easy way out. I still consider myself to be nowhere, learning every day, communicating with people. You just need to learn and engage with the community.
You're not alone. There are many of us in the same shoes. I know this sounds like a lame Dutch comfort but it is true.
Write and keep writing for the love of it. It takes sometime to warm up here at Steemit. I've been here for more than a year and you should take a look at my wallet. I could earn 100x more working at the dreaded MacD.
I'm still here and writing and writing and writing....
You did the right thing to vote yourself first, which is recommended and encouraged by Steemit.

Lol maybe its Steemit's way of telling us to work harder because if we're doing it for the money, we're not doing it for the love of writing. Thanks for the assurance I needed to hear that!
