Greetings fellow Steemians, welcome to my blog I'm @woka-happiness, and I want to use this opportunity to say a big thank you to @ruthjoe for organizing such a wonderful contest, which I am excited to share my participation below.

This story that I'm about to tell now has taught me a lesson, that I will never forget. It all started when we were about to start our practicals, our coordinator asked all the students who were preparing for practicals to pay some specific amount of money which everyone did.

Later it was time for every student to be given their practical materials, but unfortunately, not everyone got theirs, our coordinator was just busy giving us some stories and we all became angry but decided to stay calm and have more patience.

We the Lab students decided to get our Lab coats by ourselves because there was no way that we would be allowed into the Lab without having a Lab coat, finally, we all got Lab coats and other stuff then started our practicals, then our course rep informed us about the meeting which our coordinator has called for to be held in the school premises.

When we arrived the coordinator was busy with other students so we all waited till he was done, then we entered his office and he offered us chairs which we sat down quietly and waited for him to start talking, in our minds we were happy thinking we would get our Lab coat and log book, only to hear him asking us to add to the previous money which we had paid earlier,

On hearing this news, we all started looking at each other, and everyone was angry and still decided to remain calm, he said that he was asking us to pay more money because the economy was high and things had increased in the market, the person who was supposed to get the Lab coat didn't go to buy it until now that things have increased again.

At this point we were still quite looking at him, he asked for our opinion, and my colleague said, she didn't need a Lab coat anymore rather all she needed right now was the log book because every time we are asked about our log book at the hospital we get speechless and bring up stories.

So that was the reason why she said she really needed her log book, on hearing this the coordinator got very angry, that why would she speak to him in such a manner, the girl repeated herself again by saying all she wants is to have her log book that she doesn't need the lab coat anymore.

That they could keep the money that was meant for her Lab coat, but it didn't end there oo 😩 my other colleague also joined and asked what are we going to do with the Lab coat again when we were almost done with our practical, at this point the anger that our coordinator felt was much and boom, he asked all us to live his office.

We left while our course rep and his friend stayed back to plead with him, well to cut the story short those two girls were refunded for both the log book and lab coat,😳 wow and here I was saying if I had known I would have also spoken, to pour out my anger 😳😔 well I just thank God I didn't do such a thing😌

Now, I learned that sometimes one needs to learn how to speak especially when it comes to speaking with people who are in charge, this is because now those girls need log book because that's the most important thing right now, before leaving the hospital we all need to present our log filled with what we learned during our stay at the hospital, or our practicals.

Moral lesson

  • Learn how to speak to elderly people.

  • Learn to control yourself when speaking with people not just elderly people but everyone, especially those in charge

  • Learn to plead, or ask for forgiveness when you are wrong.

  • Learn to always use the five magic words as we all know them to be (please, excuse me, sorry, thank you, pardon me) using these words more often when speaking would help us in every area of our lives.

I remember back in my primary school when we were being taught how to sing this song 😂it was always fun and I can't believe I still know how to sing it🌝

Wow, what a powerful story! I'm so impressed by the courage and assertiveness of your colleagues in speaking up for their needs. And I totally get why you'd want to learn from their example - it's not always easy to speak up, especially to those in authority.

Your takeaways from this experience are spot on - learning to communicate effectively, controlling our emotions, pleading and asking for forgiveness when needed, and using those magic words (please, excuse me, sorry, thank you, pardon me) can make all the difference in our interactions with others.

Thanks for sharing this story and the valuable lessons you learned from it. Keep speaking up and using those magic words - they'll serve you well in all areas of your life.
