Earn Dividends while you HODL your Crypto

Profit Sharing Cryptocurrency Exchanges (or PSCEs) are a fantastic concept. For those of you who haven't heard about any of these great new projects: you're in luck. Fortunately, they are still a relatively new offering, so there is still time to take advantage and start generating interest on your cryptocurrency. On top of this, there is one early stage PSCE in particular that really stands out to me on account of its unique and unmatched value proposition. Before I pick a favourite though, let's go over what a PSCE is, and why you should be interested.

Thanks to the tremendous growth in the popularity of cryptocurrencies, the daily trading volume on crypto exchanges has been constantly soaring to new highs. As of right now, the previous 24 hour trading volume on Binance (the world's largest crypto exchange) is a staggering $9,735,371,645. Now for the crazy part: Binance only accounts for about 16% of the world's trading volume. That's right: according to coinmarketcap.com, in just the last 24 hours over $60 billion worth of cryptocurrency trades have occurred. Okay this is all great, but why should you care?

You should care because these exchanges are making tons of money. This is due to the fees that they are charging for their services. In the case of Binance for example, a commission of at least 0.05% is charged on every trade that occurs on the site. This means that just today they have made almost five million dollars from these micro fees. That being said, a sizeable portion of this profit goes to covering their operating costs; but even still something doesn't feel quite right. Thankfully, some of the brightest minds in crypto have found a way to bring the power (and profit) back to the people: enter Profit Sharing Cryptocurrency Exchanges.

Profit Sharing Cryptocurrency Exchanges are crypto exchanges that return a set portion of all the transaction fees they collect back to those that are holding their linked token (or "coin"). These payouts occur on a set interval (usually daily or weekly), meaning that these dividends can be collected regularly without having to sell the token. Since the underlying asset doesn't need to be sold to generate profits, these tokens are often compared to stocks. Unlike Bitcoin, where value is derived only by what others are willing to pay to buy it, with these PSCE tokens you can comfortably hold without worrying about when to sell.

By now you can probably tell why these PSCEs have so much potential. They are definitely a viable option for those looking to generate passive income and hold cryptocurrency at the same time. Now before I go over my own PSCE pick, I have to give a disclaimer: The recommendations in this article are by no means guaranteed to result in profit. As with everything in cryptocurrency nothing is ever certain. You should never invest what you are not prepared to lose.

Now, that being said, in my eyes the best PSCE option available at present is COSS.IO. COSS pays 50% of all transaction fees out to those that hold their token. This is the highest across the board, matched only by KuCoin. In the case of KuCoin however, they have reserved the right to lower the payout at their discretion to as low as 15%, which to me raises a red flag. COSS is a much smaller exchange as well, and with a current market cap of only $28 million (less than 1/20th of KuCoin) there is a lot more upside potential. In addition, COSS is also set to launch their new UI next week, which will likely help facilitate growth at an even faster rate.
