Yet Another Vintage Camera Score

in #antiques8 years ago

Even though it doesn't work, this collector found this $10 purchase to be worth it. :)

This is the Kodak Holiday Flash Brownie. It's the 2nd Brownie I own (neither of which work), which makes for the 13th vintage camera in my collection. It used 127 format film, which has long since been discontinued.

As a sidenote to myself, I really need to clean out and reorganize my display case for these.

One cool thing is that there's a designation on the inside of the camera which denotes when it was manufactured. They used to use a 10-letter code word to give a MM/YY date, and that word was "CAMEROSITY".

This camera's designation is "YARR", which is 02-55, or February 1955.

I plan on going back tomorrow and checking out some areas of the market I was unable to view. Hopefully I'll have another one I can post!

congratulations for this beautiful find, it really looks incredible because it was 1955, a worthy example of belonging to your showcase.
I wish you a good start

What an amazing find! I really love your posts. I love antiques.

A very nice camera. Surprised with the date but really beautiful for the collection.

Another nice find... it's a bakelite one, yes?

According to this camera wiki page, it appears so. :)

Cool! I just broke my bakelite camera setting up a camera stack for a photo : (
