W.W.'s DAILY ELEPHANT :: 0008

This one is a piece that was made in Hong Kong...but it's not made of anything special. It's plastic. I'm sure there's a story behind it regarding who gifted it, but I don't know what it would be or who that was.

I've been transforming this project a bit in the past couple of posts, as you can see. I've decided to turn this into a project that explores lighting techniques. For example, this image was lit by a desk lamp above and to the right, a bit behind the elephant to give it a bit of back-lighting. Then, I propped up two white sheets of paper - one to the right of the elephant and one to the left - to bounce the light from the lamp back at it. The bright patch of light - or catch light - on the elephant's body is a reflection of one of those pieces of paper.

I'm interested to see where this goes, especially when I start getting into more of the crystal and brass pieces.

That's better. Thank you for the description and the lighting dialog transforms this from "just another photo" into a work of art. Yet another coffee table book idea. Run with it...
