Music Review : Bob Moses -&- Until The Ribbon BreakssteemCreated with Sketch.

My musical tastes tend to be a bit stubborn. What do I mean? Well, when I find a song or album or DJ mix I like, I often find myself stuck on them for months at a time. No kidding. I'm pretty sure my fiance is about as sick of the 10-track playlist from my iPhone as most parents are of hearing their toddler's favorite show's intro jingle on eternal repeat.
What can I say? When I like something, I run it into the ground.

Take this song, for example...

"Tearing Me Up" by Bob Moses

I bumped into this one on Beatport one day last year. When I investigated the track, I found that others had heard it on the pilot episode of "The Catch". I tried watching the show, and while the pilot episode was cool - and the spot for the song fit perfectly - the show lost me after about 3 episodes. But I digress...

Now, to be sure, Bob Moses is not a person, they're a duo. Frankly, the album this song is from, "Days Gone By" isn't terribly awesome, but that song... that song. It clings to you. The vibe, the lyrics, the voice itself. The whole thing was an expression that was dying to get out, and these guys nailed it. Throw the rest of the album out as far as I'm concerned, but lock this one up and never let it out.

In a word... AWESOME.

Next up,

I ran into this one on a drive home this evening while listening to the Chill station on iTunes Radio, and now I'm taking in their whole album.

"One Way Or Another" by Until The Ribbon Breaks

I have to admit, this one caught me off guard. First of all, it's only available as a single, not in an album. And not until I looked it up when I got home did my dumb @$$ realize this was a Blondie cover. It was so well done that it didn't even dawn on me.
The total over all feel of the song has been flipped on its head and now it possesses a kind of stalker-ish vibe...but I LIKE it! Hit play, you'll hear what I mean.

As I write this, I've just wrapped up listening to their full album called "A Lesson Unlearnt", and where I have to hand it to UTRB here, in comparison with Bob Moses above, is that their album seems to be solid through and through.

Highly recommended, will listen again.

If you've made it this far, THANK YOU! Hopefully I've helped turn you on to something you haven't heard before. If so, I've done my job with this post! :D
