Jenny Beattys 100 Hoopties project

Jenny Beatty dedicated 100 days creating 100 pieces of re-imagined iconic works of art solely out of scrapped bicycle parts. 100 Hoopties was the product of a concept called the 100 days project concept created by designer Micheal Bierut of Pentagram Partners. Her work is viewable on 100Hoopties.com

What is the 100 day project?

The 100-day project is a workshop that was taught to students at Yale School of Art. The assignments would go as follows. Participants would find a design operation that they were capable of repeating every day. The students would then present their own one-hundred part project to the class.

Interesting examples of the challenge

Lauren Adolfsens project where she took a picture with a person she had never met before. This was all published in a book that is viewable on Snack Mountain.

Zak Klaucks project where he created a poster each day in one minute for 100 days based on one word or short phrase collected from 100 different people. This is all viewable on Zaks website

Why waste the time?

The 100-day concept is an interesting one because it inspires you to find creativity in your everyday life where you may not have found it conventionally. The project becomes a task that challenges you creatively and mentally offering you an outlet.

I challenge every reader here to take part in the challenge. What have you got to lose?
