What means being modern?
There's nothing new in "Art" since the beginning of time, only works updated with the dressing of new centuries.
Gustave Moreau, a french painter (1826-1898) puts it in these words that in my opinion are still valid today:
Being "modern" doesn't consist in looking for something outside of all the things that have already been done.
At the contrary it is about coordinating everything that has been made before our time,
to show how our century has accepted this heritage and the way that we make use of it."
All those breaks with the past in art movements, talking about newness is everything except new...we are only being served slightly refurbished old dishes that collectors might like as their acquisitions arrive with words like avant-gardism.
Nevertheless, all this cannot keep us away from doing what we do...accepting and not denying all the influences that reach our little brain and "make use of it".
