RED POWDER PUFF (COLORCHALLENGE RED MONDAY)
The Red Powder Puff (Calliandra Haematocephala) is a tropical plant native to Mexico and Bolivia.
They are popular for their large pompom like fluffy flowers, and dark crimson colour. Both butterflies and birds (specially hummingbirds) are attracted to this decorative flower. This shrub/tree can flower all year round if they are happy and healthy, but the main season for flowering is Autumn. It can also flourish as an indoor potted plant.
This plant has also been known to be used as a blood purifier in some traditional medicines, because of its anti-oxident compounds.
