Hacking is a non conventional way of interacting with systems – this actually means a way of operating on systems by means that are not originally designed by their designers. 

Hacking is an act of stealing information/data through backdoors (unauthorized means). Hacking isn't an easy process like the way it is done on movies, because it takes thorough and proper planning and technical approach to steal a target’s information/data.  

One may start to ask, what information are hackers interested in stealing? All hacker have some personal reasons best known to them as to why they hack. Some hack for fun, some parents would hack into their infant's computer to protect them from accessing dangerous web pages or from connecting to strangers online, some hack to slow/shut down systems, while others will hack to steal money from their victim – about 80% of hackers in the world hack for money or to impersonate someone/ steal business contacts and this is why I will discuss the types of hackers there are as I introduce you to hacking: 

Classification of Hackers 

White Hat Hackers: 

These are the type of hackers that you can refer to as ‘The Angels’, the white hat hackers are the ‘good guys’, they hack against hackers who try to steal information for malicious intentions. The find vulnerabilities and try to fix those vulnerabilities, they are known to fight against most website that promotes child pornography, racism, improve bank securities. Example are the Ethical hackers.  

Black Hat Hackers: 

The black hat hackers are the hackers you can refer to as ‘The Evil’, they are the ‘bad guys’in the hack world. They do many type of hacking tricks for their own selfish interests, they steal credit card information, usernames and password information, personal files and business data, etc. 

Grey Hat Hackers: 

The Grey Hat Hackers are in between. They are the kind of hackers I fall into. This kind of hackers don’t  get to define themselves, they actually feel they fall into the category where people get to argue where they fall into (either good or bad). This hackers understand what hacking means, and just like any other hackers borrow the knowledge when they feel the need to. 

Hacking involves great skills, creativity, and the ways of deploying this skills for results. There are basically three general Skills Level all hacker employ for hacking and I will discuss all there here and they are: 

1) Computer Science Skill level: 

They understand computer programming, they have deep knowledge understanding of Operating System (OS), they can create malware/viruses to attack their target, they have knowledge of computer networking. They are the highest level of hackers 

2) Technician Class Skill level: 

This are hacker that uses their skills on applications they find on any Operating System, either the GUI (Graphical User Interphase) or the LUI (Line User Interphase), they buy tools on the market for their hacking  

3) Script Kiddies Skill level: 

This are non technical hacker, they don’t really understand how computer hacking work, this skill is the lowest level in the hacking world, they use the hacking tools they are fortunate to acquire to perform hacking tricks sometimes for fun/pleasure for example, a concern parents  who wants to spy on their kids would use a key logger on their kids computer just to monitor their activities when they (parents) are away. 

In summary, I have just briefly discuss what hacking means, the types of hackers that there are, why people may want to hack, and the skill level in hacking.
