PANDORUS SPHINX MOTH

My son found this awesome moth on a car in a parking lot where he works, on the morning of October 5th. Looks like a spaceship to me. This unique moth has a wing span anywhere from 3 1/4"- 8" and can be found from June - October, but only at dusk or in the morning. This moth feeds on nectar from different flowers and it sometimes hovers like a Hummingbird.

The female Pandorus Sphinx Moth will lay her eggs on the leaves of a variety of plants. In just a short two to three days later, up to 1,000 eggs hatch and out comes all of the caterpillars. After eating the leaves and stems of the plants, all of the caterpillars go underground to pupate and stay there until early summer.

THANKS FOR LOOKING!
