Day 144: 5 Minute Freewrite: Monday-Prompt: frosting a cake
I used to love to bake, especially cookies. I have baked many different cakes in my time, but that came to end end long ago, with a few exceptions. If you want to ruin a perfectly rich, moist Devil's Food Cake, then I am your girl. No matter what I did, no matter how hard I tried, pieces of the cake always came off and mixed in with the frosting; middle, top and sides. My dinner guests always asked, "What is that in the frosting?" I always replied, "The devil was messing with me." There is an art to frosting a cake; one that I never learned.
Now, if you want a prefect home-made coffee cake, then I am your girl once again. No frosting needed, no devil messing with me, and the rich, crispy, buttery topping melts in your mouth perfectly every time. I can honestly say that I have mastered the art of this tricky topping.
Give me a coffee cake any day of the week!! Mmmmmmmm Coffee cake... My favourite :o)

My mouth is watering! I empathize with the cake mix with the frosting LOL. I haven't baked cake in a long time but once upon a time I could do it pretty decently. I also made some pretty darn good homemade frostings!
