When inconvenience forces you to be productive + review of everyone’s favorite fast food chain

in #life6 years ago (edited)

I woke up today to find that I only had $10 in my pocket. This may not be a big deal in some of the other places I've lived but in one of the most expensive cities in the world without the supportive community I am accustomed to...it's tricky. I have the money from my secret stocks from childhood finally reaching me, tomorrow perhaps. So I woke up and when I noticed how much money I had on the way to lunch, I decided instead to buy some noodles to cook at home.

This disrupted my habit of sitting in a cafe or restaurant for a few hours to get as much work done as I can during that period. Instead I had to fill the whole day without spending money. I could have let myself get distracted and watch YouTube videos or play my friends switch, but I saw those five hours between lunch and when I might be hungry again as an opportunity to get some stuff done.

I started by catching up at steemit. This may not sound productive to some except that the relationships I create here are important to me and I want to maintain them, especially with some people who I have not yet chatted with enough. After that I did some work for my next few adsactly posts and finished the deadpost for the week, soon to be posted. Then I did half of this massive test one company is asking me to do before they give me an interview. I’ll finish the o5her half after dinner.

For dinner, with saving money as an excuse, I went for my bi-yearly fast food. I still get cravings every now and then although I am reminded each and every time how the food is much more delicious in my memory than it is in actuality. I like people watching in places I’m not used to though so it was worth the $4 I spent though I do not plan to give them another penny for the next few months and that makes me happy. I can’t believe some of the random ass propaganda they put all over the place. “The freshest ingredients” “we care about our customers”. It’s really incredibly to read with an analytical mind as you eat a burger, which if you haven’t had in the past few months, taste a lot like paper with cheese on it. I do not believe for a second that anyone believes these lies (because no one could possibly believe any of this), the words just serve as a way to subdue the subconscious which is screaming “Don’t eat this shit! Please!” with every bite. I can’t believe how little ketchup they put on the burgers, how do people eat this shit without asking for at least two extra packets of ketchup per burger?

I didn’t say who!

The people don’t seem particularly depressed as they do in some cities fast food chains but they all look very preoccupied with things of varying importance, as if they don’t really notice that they are eating. I guess that’s kind of how this all works.

I won’t name the fast food chain, but you can probably guess, as it’s the easiest to find around the world. Worst $4 spent this year, don’t regret it, won’t do it again until situation demands it.

Mainstream culture continues to baffle me.

Back home to post this and do more work! Maybe I’ll be back for a blog tomorrow!

I completely agree. It does taste WAY better in memory!
Last time I had Mc'es it conjured up buyer's remorse more than anything. It tastes like WATER. WATERY food somehow... I was amazed at how little taste their products actually have.

Also, I heard an "insider" who has managed a mcd franchise for years: "I would NEVER eat there myself. Don't do it. It's worse than anybody thinks" ;)

All the weirder how I was absolutely stoked on mcd when I was a kid. Marketing again I guess^^

! You! Man I wish we stayed in touch more!

Yeah that's how I felt....where is the taste? I think I taste the preservatives, that's it. I kind of get where the addiction comes from when I douse it in ketchup, the cheese and the ketchup together releases something...but they don't put any damn ketchup on their shitty burgers.

I really think they just create a product which makes ketchup taste better and deprive us of ketchup so we want more hahaha

I want to know what they know

What city do you live in?

Next summer Olympic city :-P

I think it's purely to satisfy cravings for greasy salty fatty things as the usual fast food places are very rarely good XD
