I can’t explain what it is that draws me to steemit for countless hours some days and then disappearing off the face of the earth some other days. I just do what inspires me at any moment, or at least I aspire to. I once thought the sudden curbs in my otherwise consistent desire to be active in this community had to do with the comings and goings of payout or engagement. It turns out it does not. I am satisfied with the upvotes and comments I get, its all rather consistent now and I love that. I thought it may have to do with drama and issues on the platform or in my life, but it most definitely does not because there are no problems that I am aware of.

Some days you just want to watch a few movies until three days have past. A think a big part of this inexplicable urge to watch movies comes from the whole healing process, it keeps me from sitting it a chair for hours typing. It’s also kind of refreshing reconnect with the world because I have absolutely no idea what’s going on with pop culture, aside from Westworld, Mr. Robot and Game of Thrones, I don’t watch anything anymore. The good thing about barely watching any films for eight years (aside from being free of distractions) is that there is a lot to choose from when you finally come back to the screen. There was a fun sci-fi film about a group of friends having a house party who find themselves moving between realities and trying to figure out what’s going on, then getting all mixed up and lost in parallel realities. That was probably the better ones I saw so far. Also checking out Silicon Valley since it’s crypto related.

Part of me may just be craving a “paid vacation”. I worked so hard for months on end to reach people and become more self sufficient on steemit and now that it’s finally seemed to reach a level that I’m happy with, I kind of just want to enjoy writing stuff, and need a break from being so ultra involved in everything and trying to balance my time between so many people and projects all the time. I still love adding to the community so I will be back to being involved soon, and probably sooner rather than later as part of the @sndbox summer camp project which I’m part of.

I’ll try to get back into the game in the next 24 hours. Until then I’ll be waiting for my voting power to charge up while watching another film or two.

If anyone has a good film recommendation please let me know, I like pretty basic dramas that aren’t too depressing or cheesy but are trying to say something without hand feeding you, or something strange without trying so hard. Artsy but not pretentious would be a good way to describe what I like.

Very interesting, I think we all go thru this cycles, it's like this fractal progression of things, markets, moons and planets all have these cycles they go thru.
But anyrate we individually go thru these ebb and flows. I am the end of what I call my creative hangover, Like I get in these rushes of creativity and doing all these projects, and then I crash and want to do nothing but lay down and watch TV, listen to music and do nothing.
But yea there is something healing about doing nothing, but anyways I binge watched Silicon Valley, I enjoyed it. cool beans

Oh man, I love to think of the crypto markets as energy moving. It doesn’t always move freely, but it’s moving.

It’s much better to know what’s going on, to understand yourself enough to work through the ebbs and flows. Working on that!

Nice to hear this buddy and yes, you definitely deserve a movie break:

If I need to believe Letterboxd, I have seen over 1500 films that could be categorized under drama. Here's some recent ones that you might 'like' or find worth watching, if you haven't seen them already:

Downsizing, The Lobster, Nightcrawler, Force Majeure, Nebraska, The Hunt (Jagten).

Enjoy! :>)

Saw the lobster! Yes that’s exactly the kind of film I’m looking for. I’ll have to check out the other ones! I’m sure I can come to you for more after those too, but I’m probably going to slow down and watch a maximum of one a day

Awesome! Glad you liked it :>)

Yeah, no rush. Take some time to digest this (film) food

I upvote Nebraska ;)

"I have absolutely no idea what’s going on with pop culture, aside from Westworld, Mr. Robot and Game of Thrones, I don’t watch anything anymore"

Haha Its pretty much the same for me and even Game of Thrones isn't what it used to be.

If you are looking for something to watch check out the 2006 film The Fall. It has a few flaws but it does way more right. Plus it is a great looking movie without the use of CG (that is more impressive when you see it). I think it might fit what you are looking for.

It seems most shows fall victim to their own hype. Kind of like our economy, they need to keep growing bigger and better until there is no where left to grow and they kind of fall over....I think their choice to end it ASAP was a good one. Mr robot kind of left me unexcited about it’s future with the season 3 finale.

I’ll che k out the fall!

That is some of it but my big issue is that they really started disregarding the source material after the third season and they did so in a way that significantly changes characters and their motivations. Plus I think they dumbed down a lot of things because they don't respect the intelligence of the audience. For example, they have changed names on the show because they are vaguely similar to other names (Asha in the book is changed to Yara in the show because it was too close to Osha).

I haven't watched Mr. Robot but I have heard it is good. Westworld is alright though.

I’m ok with them not respecting my intelligence because to me all actors look the same :-D

I do not have any good film recommendations. I stopped watching movies over 10 years ago.

I feel that what you are feeling is the actual waves of energy flowing over the earth right now. The energies have vastly shifted, and we need time to regain our footing.

You seem to be keeping your head above water, so enjoy your breaks and move with the flow.

I’ve heard this stuff before...I don’t really know what to think about it, but it’s all interesting. I certainly feel a lot of friends here going through similar ups and downs at the same time.

how about Dr Strangelove, that always cheers me up

Haha a film about the end of the world cheers you up. I can’t remember it well, maybe I should watch it again?
