6-8 weeks until we hit 1 million steemit users!
Wow! We are getting close to a million registered steemit users! We will probably hit 700 000 users today! According to my calculations we will hit 1 million steemit users in about 7 weeks (+/-1 week for the sake of variance). This will hold true if we continue growing at this pace. We are currently growing at about 5% a week. Thanks to compound interest that means we will increase at a very fast pace from now on.
Am I sure?
Well, I'm quite sure. However, in case I'm wrong, it might take up to 12 weeks! That is if the growth rate of the past half a year averages out within the next weeks. Anyway, we are getting really close! Six months ago I posted a calculation about the growth rate of steemit just after we hit 300 000 users. So in half a year we have more than doubled the amount of users. At that point I was predicting to have hit 1 000 000 so far, however, I also included the worst case scenario of 3% growth per week and I suppose that has been playing out as the average for so long.
What does this mean?

This means we are still very early adopters, all of us. Which is great. But in the coming year we will have an insane growth compared to what we have been having. There will be millions of us by the end of 2018. My prediction is somewhere between 3 and 10 million users by the end of 2018! And yes, I really can't give a better prediction, because with about 3% growth per week from now on for the rest of the year, we will be at 3 million by the end of 2018 and with about 6% on average, we will be at 10 million!

Now, just imagine that. Let it sink in. No, don't tell me I'm overly positive. Overly positive would be a 10% increase per week. I'm just calculating a 3%-10% increase. Btw if you're wondering, 10% per week would equal roughly 67 million by the end of 2018, but that as I said is overly positive ;)

If SBD price will drop, and that's very likely to happen than it might take a little bit longer to hit 1 million, but great news indeed, i love to see this place growing:)
Yeah, I think then it will average at 3%, taking the 12 weeks I mentioned. It was growing at a 5% week speed half a year ago also, but it slowed down since we we are not at 1 million yet. :)

I'm just curious if there is a tool in place to check the retention percentage also, so that it will give us a more clear picture. I feel we have a good chunk of inactive users piling up everyday. What's your take on this?
I can't say how many people are inactive, probably someone would know. Anyway, I it doesn't matter if the percentage is 20%, because 20% from 1 million is 200 000 and 20% from 10 million is 2 million :) As long as it keeps growing :)
