It’s Been A Busy Week

Sorry we haven’t posted in a while. A lot of projects hit all at once this week. Which reminds me to tell you about the other half of Working Class Publishing – the services branch called WC Publishing Services.

WC Publishing Services does low-cost editing, typesetting, book layout/ design, and graphic design. We occasionally make websites (check out the one we did for Ginny Rosewater). We don’t advertise this work much, as our business generally comes from word-of-mouth, repeat customers, and freelance assignments from printers (sometimes authors will go directly to printers with work that needs to be formatted correctly, so they refer to us to make print-ready documents out of rough manuscripts).

We love doing these projects – it’s very fulfilling to help self-publishers put out professional looking work. It’s also a nice way to express some creativity. The downside is that when we’re busy, we spend every free second sitting in front of the computer to meet deadlines.

Our favorite project is probably the work we do for Camp Out Magazine. This is a super fun quarterly print mag in the old campy pinup tradition. It’s full nude imagery with fun little stories to go along with the pictures. There’s a lot of worse ways to spend our time…

We capped off our busy week with a meeting down in Madison, WI – we got to have lunch with Kitty Hagen, one of the wonderful models featured on our website. Kitty will be joining us again soon for promotional work. She’s very talented and we’re excited to get to work with her again.

Since we were already in Madison, we decided to stay and catch a show. Off With Their Heads was playing an acoustic set at The Frequency – so we pretended not to be old for a night, stayed up late and enjoyed downtown Madison. One of the coolest shows we’ve been to in a while!
