Visiting PICASSO Museum in Málaga
PICASSO MUSEUM: Málaga
One of the best things I could do in my Summer Holidays in Málaga (South of Spain) was visiting the Picasso Museum with my family. Located in a beautiful and charming building, the museum is in one of the most privileged position in the centre of this amazing city, in a street where you can see the Málaga Cathedral, know by the people of the city as 'La Manquita'.
Una de las mejores cosas que he hecho durante mis vacaciones de verano en Málaga (Sur de España) fue visitar el museo Picasso con mi familia. Situado en un precioso y encantador edificio, el museo está en uno de los lugares más privilegiados del centro de esta increíble ciudad, en una calle desde donde se puede ver la catedral de Málaga, conocida por los malagueños como 'La Manquita'.
The Museum
When we came in the a person of the museum staff gave the girls a small book to look for some pictures and sculptures in the museum and write the comments they wanted, their personal view of them. It was a great idea that made the girls being paying attention and looking for all the works they had in the book during the visit.
Cuando entramos una de las personas del museo les dio a las niñas un pequeño libro en el que tenían que buscar algunas de las pinturas y esculturas que había en el museo y escribir comentarios, su visión personal. Fue una idea genial que hizo que las niñas estuvieran prestando atención y buscando las obras que tenían en el libro durante el recorrido.
When we finished the visit I asked the girls which one was their favorite works and their answers were, at least, curious... We couldn't take pictures of Picasso's works at the request of the owners of the paintings, but I show you the images taken from the Museum website. What do you think about this choices? :)
Cuando acabamos la visita les pregunté a las peques cuál había sido su obra preferida y las respuestas fueron, como poco, curiosas... No pudimos hacer fotos de las obras de Picasso por petición expresa de los dueños que habían cedido las obras, pero os dejo una imagen de la web del Museo. ¿Qué pensáis de sus elecciones? :)
The Building: 'Palacio de Buenavista'
As you can see the building is beautiful and full of amazing details all around. Here you have some of the pictures I took in there.
Como podéis observar el edificio es precioso y está lleno de detalles espectaculares.
The Exhibition: 'Bacon, Freud and the School of London'
The temporary exhibition was the 'School of London', under my point of view a very good one and, among all of them, two of the Francis Bacon paintings attracted my attention:
La exposición temporal que estaba en ese momento es la de la 'Escuela de Londres', bajo mo punto de vista muy buena y con un par de obras de Francis Bacon que me llamaron muchísimo la atención:

Una gran mañana con mi mujer y mis hijas y un impresionante lugar para visitar si estás en Málaga.
The wooden carving with the geometric shapes is very interesting. What does it symbolize?
It's a representation of the 'Mudéjar' art, a 'mix' of techniques and ways of creating architecture resulting from Muslim and Christian cultures living side by side along the years in the Spanish territory. It's quite common all over Spain and it's extremely beautiful :) Hope it helps @techwizardry and @luxurywalker 😊
That's exactly the explanation I was looking for. Thanks! Btw, do you have any other insight on the meaning of this particular piece? It seems to me it holds some kind of religious esoteric meaning.
I don't know if there's another meaning for it, I just loved it and I took the picture, but I think it's just the typical shape of this type of art :)

Nicely described! I enjoyed the macro pictures showing the details of the museum. When I saw your post, I was half way on my next post. It is about a museum too, but on impressionism ☺

La verdad es que agradecí tu recomendación de visitarlo y así lo hicimos unos días después de que lo hicieras tú.
Es una maravilla de exposición la de Picasso aunque una pena que no dejaran fotografiarla ya quw habían verdaderas joyas artísticas.
A mí me encantó, sin duda.
Sí que estaba chulo, pequeñito pero grandísimo por todo lo que contenía. ¡¡Un abrazo pisha!!!

Genial lo que nos pudiste compartir del museo, lástima que no pudiste tomar fotos de las obras, pero con lo que nos compartiste es más que suficiente para querer ir a visitar el museo. Muy lindas tus hijas.

La verdad es que no me parece mal que no dejen hacer fotos a las obras, es una manera de tratar que la gente esté más atenta a la obra que al selfie que tiene que subir al FB o al Instagram, sin saber si quiera lo que hay detrás!!! En fin, chulísimo el museo y precioso el lugar. 😊
