I have oil
I have oil on my hands not blood,
Dirt in my nails not gore;
The sun is glad with me
& it bruises the sky with a pinkish blush.
I dance under the rain,
The puddles dance with me.
They show me all of my happy faces
Before my feet shakes them free;
They fly into my eyes & mouth
Just to oil my laughter with glee.
My waist is a row boat chasing waves,
Tiding to hungry shores; I weave
Left to right, a crazy mast cresting
& sinking into the misting night.
I have sweat under my lips,
Between my waistband & beard;
Kisses of air & my body's sweetness.
I have eyes that have seen tears,
I have ears that have heard screams,
I have lips that have prayed hard
& I have legs that have run from pain.
Is it this body that now knows joy?
Is this me, hugging trees & kissing stars?
I am free; I am free.
