A DIRGE

I write this free verse in freewrite as I listen to classical music on msp-waves hosted by @globocop. I do not know the titles of the music playing but they are just beautiful. You should go to PAL server and give it a listen. Thank me later.

Shaky, cheating fingers licking
Lips, slipping between
Tongue and teeth,
Kissing nails that break and bleed,
That have forgotten how to feel.

Hands touching skin,
Rubbing dust, tracing wrinkles,
Licking lines of veins
Of blood that pulse,
That breathe like a heart breaking.

Broken heart, curled,
Cradling pain and memory,
Kissing crumbling chest cavity,
Pumping blood gushing rivers
Of old stories to stain the rusting sink.

Sinking into the warm arms
Of the ceramic floor,
The tiles tracing paths for ants,
Flies and spiders dying
For a drink of the sun, and dust
Flying on the wings
Of the sun's rays.

Rays of ultraviolet light
Peering into blind eyes
Reading the sky,
Reading the leaves,
Opening the limbs of the earth,
Kissing the tender place,
Making her shudder.

Shuddering shoulders hugging
Mother, hugging son.
Tears washing faces clean,
Kissing lips, staining widow's black
And shrouded feet pale
With night's dew and the fading song
Echoing its goodbye.
