Your beliefs affect your life in many ways. You have probably heard that your beliefs are what govern your thoughts and feelings, but do you know why? In fact, your beliefs are much more important than the thoughts and feelings you have. When it comes to happiness and satisfaction with life, beliefs are truly the most important factor.


The relationship between your beliefs about yourself, others and the world around you is profound. Just as an erroneous belief can affect the way you perceive the world around you, an erroneous belief can affect the way you perceive yourself and other people. Those who incorrectly believe that they are unhappy will often find themselves miserable.

Those who wrongly believe that they are happy often find themselves unhappy. Those with incorrect beliefs about themselves and others will tend to place a lot of importance on their own perceived happiness. They fail to see that all people are different, and that what they think is happiness is actually only part of a whole panorama of personal reality. If your beliefs are out of sync with reality, the result will be misery. Conversely, those who are in line with reality will tend to place great emphasis on their perceived happiness.

How do your beliefs affect your life? Most people's perceptions of reality are affected by a number of forces. Your beliefs about yourself, others and the world around you may also be affected by your sexual identity, your level of education, your childhood experience, your work history, your marital status and your spirituality. All these factors will influence your life in unique ways.

The results of your beliefs can be as varied as the number of drivers in a car or as predictable as a rainfall. Your thoughts, feelings and emotions about specific matters will inevitably impact your behavior and your experiences. If your subconscious mind contains damaging and unreasonable beliefs, it will manifest in many ways.

You can work hard to eliminate negative beliefs from your subconscious mind. Your actions and your reactions to events will indicate whether you are working to improve your perceptions of life or to worsen them. If you want to improve your perceptions, you must work on eliminating the negative beliefs you have about yourself, other people and the world in general.

If you want to improve your perceptions, you must first decide what kind of beliefs you need to work on replacing. Do you want to believe in the impossible? Do you want to live without suffering for the rest of your life? Are you prepared to embrace change and open your mind to new possibilities? Once you have answered these questions, you are well on your way to improving your perceptions.

It is not enough to simply work on eliminating beliefs that are damaging to your life. You must also work on improving your own consciousness addressed awareness. This awareness is a precondition for your transformation to new consciousness. Only then can your understanding of the reality of consciousness and reality change sufficiently to improve your perceptions of the way things really are.

The book, "The Science of Getting Real," by Paul Harrison provides some useful insights into how to improve your consciousness towards others and yourself. In particular, Harrison focuses on changing a negative belief about yourself. He calls this belief the "hypnotic belief." What is the hypnotic belief? It is the best way for you to avoid change, experience change and stay healthy.

According to Paul Harrison, belief changes are the key to experiencing a change in your life. What is it that makes you perceive something as being different than it actually is? This is your subconscious perception. As you work on changing this, you begin to perceive things differently than they are before. Your new perception of the world around you can dramatically improve your life.

In addition to having a new perception of the world around you, Paul Harrison has developed a technique for changing your own perception. The technique involves making the past come back into your life when you visualize it. By doing this you actually experience the feeling all over again, even though you are not physically present. What is it that affects your perceptions?


The answer is the subconscious mind. Believing that you do not deserve what you have or want can prevent you from receiving what you desire. Changing your negative beliefs to positive ones can actually transform the way you perceive things and therefore the world around you. So if you want to receive the things you desire in life, work on changing your beliefs.
