Pay it forward, one tomato at a time.

Change can begin with something very small. A while ago I was out walking in the woods. There was an older man taking pictures of mushrooms on dead trees. I told him the name of this particular mushroom and that started our conversation. This man had been working hard in some office all his life but was thrown out due to budget cuts. Now in his sixties he faced a couple of health issues but has had the worst. The conversation shifted from health to food and it was clear he could not believe there was such a big difference between store bought food and the nutrientdense delicousness we try to grow. So I invited him to my garden and he showed up.
My dear steemians I have NEVER seen someones face lit up so much when he saw and tasted my homegrown produce. He instantly because interested in gardening but was slighlty panicking over not knowing how. I hooked him up with a couple of tomato seeds (tomato being his favorite vegetable) and he set off to make his first raised bed.
At the end of that summer this was the first harvest he showed me and to my surprise there were quite a few more varieties then the one I gave him.

Being a graphic designer of some sort he especially liked his 'green zebra' tomato, just for the beauty of it.

He is now thinking of weird colored lettuce and carrot varieties, which means another raised bed and more food to be grown.
It gets me so excited and not just me, the little (beneficial) insects like his effort too.

To me, getting even one person to change or even smaller, to grow something can totally make my day.
