Network Topology Illustrator (NTI): new features added

Modifications and New Features

1. Major Modifaction: swtich from Python script to Google Chrome extension.

2. The new features added is mainly the new UI, including:

   • use text area to directly accept text of the network topology;
   • add extra tweak, text size, to allow user to customize the size of the
     node/edge names to be drawn, with 0 to skip the name drawing;
   • add extra tweak, node color, to allow user to cusomize the color of the
     nodes;
   • add extra tweak, node size, to allow user to customize the diameter of the
     nodes;
   • add extra tweak, edge color, to allow user to customize the color of the
     edges;
   • add extra tweak, edge width, to allow user to customize the width of the
     edges;
   • show parsed result, the target network topology in the tale in realtime;
   • use "Save" button to generate the SVG instead of running command from
     teminals.

Implementation

• The infrastructure of the new version of this tool follows basic Google Chrome
  extension standard.

• The icon is designed with Microsoft PowerPoint. As can be seen from the
  following image, the icon of this is shaped like the letter G which means
  graph (network topology).

• The UI is a basic Bootstrap style web page, in order to make the usage of this
  tool strightforward.

• The file saving operation simulaties a standard file downloading procedure,
  in order, again, to make the usage of this tool straightforward.

Installation

The tool has been published in Chrome Web Store, and you use either ways to get access to it.

• Search "Network Topoloty Illustrator" in Chrome Web Store, or
• Click this link to get it.

Roadmap

In the future, I will add more features for users' convienence. For example:

• desgin the "Save as" feature such that the users can specify the image format as they wish,
• add the mouse click feature such that the suers can click the mouse to capture the nodes on the screen.
