The Secret Art of Sharing

You can't help it if you're a writer or an artist of any genre, you store up and dispense ideas worth sharing. Often times we artsy types don't intentionally share concrete ideas, but our views on life seep into our creations just as surely as our spoken words reveal bits of our character and life views. Who we are creeps into every piece we lay our talents to.

The things of beauty, the experiences of life shape our thoughts and trickle into our finished work. What we muse on when we lie dreaming becomes our story and our drive.

I learn by reading, studying art and poetry. Subtle shades of light and dark, every word carries impact. Our choice of lines, the pressure of the brush or length of sentences. Sometimes what we select as our focal point in a photo, or the expression of the subject.

Nothing is off limits in art or writing, but not everyone will react positively to our message, yet if it resonates with us, the ideas are ideas worth spreading.

Fear may hold the artist captive, unsure of the value to others and we hide the things we create fearing criticism, but courage to share will bring reactions and build confidence in the artist. We should trust our instincts and share our art and writing.

Often we will be surprised at how many people will admire our work.

Go ahead... start again, share that baby you've been quietly hiding and take that chance. Your tribe will eventually come, your critics, too, but your message will come through and you will celebrate your freedom.
