Now the perculiar thing that we can mark is that Jesus precises that if any man must follow him the. you must bring your cross along. So now then looking at it critically you ask yourself why he demands this.
So through out this little session of today , we will get to know why he demands this.
Firstly we must know the use of the cross.
the Bible make us to understand that it was wood used for death sentence of some individuals who are according to Roman law were guilty of the worst kinds of disturbances, so then to be crucified on the cross was the was form of death.
Now if we know that the cross is for death and that Jesus is advising us to take it along, infact it's not and advice its and obligation. So now we can understand that there will be some dieing in this desire to follow Jesus, my beginning and my end will occur with the cross.
My companion on the journey is the cross.
Now our mentor and Great man in the faith says in Galatians 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

We now understand that there is a need for my cross too, li cannot be sharing cross with Jesus , the cross is a single station where I die beside my saviour so that I have a chance to ressurect into the new man that is the offspring of Christ Jesus.
Now we have agreed that there is a dead to die, and now then why are we dieing and what are we doing from , infact why is this dead so important.
Infact we are already dead, because the wages of sin is dead and all have sinned and fallen short of the glory . but we should understand that the death am drawing our attention here , is the dead of the old man, and his passions.
The man that is crucified has ego, pride, love for self, greed, coveteuosness,
So when Jesus says , "carry your cross and follow me" it's because on the way as he is shaping us to be like him, then opportunities to be greedy will arise, and we will have to refuse to do the desires of the flesh.
That is nailing ourselves to the cross.
Everytime we are about to exhibit pride we put the cross in place and die,
The reason why God desires this is because, Gods character cannot be expressed in a person that has not yet died
In order to be humble God must empty us of our pride
For us to be kind and generous, God must empty us of our greed
For us to patient God must empty us of haste to succeed
So that's why death is so important, in death we give the chance for the Lord to express himself.
