#weekendfreewrite - A small gesture works wonders

in #freewrite5 years ago

I am walking to the station to catch a train that will take me home.
So there I was standing on the platform in the rain and of course, a strong wind nearly blew me off my shoes.
I hate waiting and most of all waiting in the rain on dirty platforms. Although the prices of the tickets are extremely expensive the station looks like a slum. It is easy to understand why fewer people travel by train and everyone prefers to take his own car.

"Do you mind if I join you", a guy asked.
Yes, I do, I thought, I like to have some space and am not a people person. The platform is nearly empty so there is no need to stay so close to me.
"To be honest...", I started but he interrupted me.
"Let me help you with your bag. I feel the same way as you do. It's no fun to travel by train nowadays. I am always afraid to end up here with my throat sliced up."
Great, some idiot keeps me company and tells me his biggest fears.

"I think they've gone," Marie said, her head turned, her breath hot on my ear.
She suddenly showed up out of the blue and my instinct told me she followed me.
"What are you doing here didn't they lock you in? You are not allowed to leave after 5 pm."
She grinned and showed me her hand.
"Look what I have found, my own key and who is he?" She gazed at the guy standing next to me.
"You didn't tell me you have a boyfriend", she grinned and it gave me the creeps.
"He isn't my boyfriend", I snapped at her. "Now leave, use your key let yourself in and stay quiet. I will see you on Monday next week."
"Can't we meet earlier?"
"No!"
"How come you can't", the guy said. "Don't you see she needs you? She followed you the whole way over here. You could at least do something back for her in return."
"Go amuse yourself somewhere else, you idiot. I did not ask for your opinion nor company!"

Marie clearly hoped I would switch for the guy's words but I had no intention to give in.
Working hours were over and life was waiting for me at home. Now she stood next to the interfering stranger and whispered something in his ear.
"Is it really so hard for you to give something back", he whined. " A small gesture works wonders, a word, a touch..."
I only needed a second to think over his words I watched the clock the train would arrive in 6 minutes.
"Here is your small gesture a sign of my appreciation for you, I said as my fist landed on his cheek. I am sure the red mark on his face will be black tomorrow.
"What about you", I asked Marie as I turned around to face her but she couldn't answer since she already left. I doubt we will meet next week she will probably ask for one of the other cleaning ladies in the institution.

I use partiko

How about giving it a try yourself?
With my lousy, unstable connection it is the only app that still works most of the times.
Simply give it a try. There is nothing to lose
