Contest: Looking Back/Look Forward. 3.10
As I woke up I asked myself if it makes sense to look back. Is it helpful to do so if situations, circumstances, changed? It can be good if it comes to cherishing good times. Happy memories which give energy, make life better. It can be helpful if it comes to experiences that teach a lesson. An important lesson that should not be forgotten.
Looking back is not helpful if it means being stuck, hiding in the past, not being flexible enough to move on, adapt new rules, a new lifestyle to fit in and most of all making own life easier, worth living, enjoyable.
Personally, it's not worth fighting against everything, fight what you can't win. Facebook and Twitter for example suddenly fight the culture I live in. One of the last celebrations there is. Should I fight it? It's true it annoys me but why should I let Facebook rule my life? I can do without Facebook and no one can forbid me to celebrate. Might be within the next decade or two this celebration is no longer. It wouldn't be the first time in Dutch history and we survived it and the celebration was even brought back into generations of people their lives.
