Cedar House - Olympia Washington - 18 original photos
The architect finished this when she was 29 years old.
Tessa Smith, of the Artisan's Group in Olympia WA.
We were only allowed on site for one particular Sunday in September.
Homeowners are generally just moderately interested in photography, they generally see it as a conciliatory move they do for the architect.
My roots are in photojournalism,
my wife is the architectural photographer.
Now that I see what architectural photography is--
--focus on the space rather than the event--
I sure wish I had photographs of all the places I lived.
The builder hadn't signed over the bond,
so we could get inside on his consent. Wish I could remember his name.
These particular homeowners were not interested in having all their possessions in any public photos, so Tessa brought her patio furniture.
We had to promise not to dox the address before we were allowed on site.
During wild fire season here in California, there is something I appreciate about this place in particular:
The homeowners used blowtorches to char all the siding before it was installed.
Its a wild fire prevention technique.
I really believe its for these shots that home owners generally appreciate us when we're done.
