RESISTANCE MANDATE

Text: “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7

Every time you hear the word ‘mandate’ it refers to an assignment that God has given someone in our context. This is a non-transferable responsibility that we are given. God has placed on each one of us the responsibility to resist the devil around our lives. A mandate also means what we have been empowered and equipped to carry out. We don’t have any excuse not to do so. All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Jesus. He has also given us the same authority. The name of Jesus in the mouth of a believer is a weapon that we can use to resist the devil around our lives.

To resist means to prevent him from gaining access. Where he has gained access we can declare that his time is over in that place. According to scriptures the devil has no choice that to flee. If the devil occupies any place around our lives it’s because we allowed it. God will not come down to resist the devil for you; his word says we should do it. This simply means that we can do it with a guarantee that the devil will check out.

From our anchor scripture the first step in resisting the devil over our lives is to first of all submit to God. The authority of our lives has its root in our submission to God. The authority of our lives becomes weak and ineffective when our lives are not fully yielded to God. Every point of rebellion in our lives is a point of spiritual weakness. Resisting the devil will also require that we understand the authority invested in the name of Jesus. That name is above every other name. Everyone and everything responds to that name.
Resisting the devil is not the same as fighting or wrestling with the devil. The devil is defeated already. He has lost the battle already. All we are doing in resisting the devil is enforcing the reality of the victory on the cross. The battle was won on the cross on our behalf. Jesus triumphed over the devil and made a public display of them. Just take your place in Christ.

PRAYER:
In the name of Jesus I resist the devil around my family, business etc. I decree that you take off your hand around all that concerns me.
