The Foul Fury

The southwestern Slender Sea, 1438 ATC

Far into the southwest, there sailed a single ship in the deep blue sea. She was on a mission, soaking in the feel of the waves on this peaceful trip so far. However this was no ordinary ship, this was one of the finest vessels to ever sail the Slender Sea. Lead by a renown captain, any who gazed upon the flag of the ship and dared face them in combat would be in for quite a challenge.

There was always new land out there, waiting to be explored, and plenty of plunders and bounties. With that settled, Captain Wake put away his spyglass.

“Lets move everyone!" The Captain shouted. “Every scrap of deck on the wind!”

The Freeman's Paragon began to move at it fastest speed toward the ship with the squid sigil in the distance.

Taking in the brisk salty air. As they got closer to the enemy ship, The Fowl Fury, Captain Wake turned the ship abroad, he steered the ship towards around them from the side to flank them and give them enough room for arrows.

''I could sneak onto the ship and set it aflame.''

Venser said standing on the deck with Nodessa, Cierra, and Ruari. He had teleported himself and Ruari away to go change and get their equipment since they now knew where they were before they set sail. Venser wore his usual crimson and turquoise entertainers tunic , his utility belt, his wrist bow, and not much else. While Ro wore a dark blue shirt and matching pants with a matching sash and a few pieces of metal armor she has borrowed from Ven, tightened around her arms and torso, and a helmet borrowed from the Nodessa's crew. Meanwhile Cierra had slipped into a simple all black dress and opted to stay away from the fighting.

"That would defeat the purpose of salvaging the ship and everything they have, Venser." Ruari pointed out, the wind blowing through her curly burgundy locks.

"She's right. But if we could get close enough you could teleport aboard, cause some chaos while we fire on them and board them with little resistance." Nodessa said with a nod readying her shield and short sword, giving Ven a strange look before pulling down the faceplate of her helmet. She wore a bronze metal corset with a short collar, and light armor with steel plates on the hips, and shoulder protectors complemented with a torn, bright red short cape over one shoulder.

"You know you could lose an eye or lose your head going into combat without a helmet, Venser. Or anything else to protect you."

The handsome bearded man himself did a double take at Nodessa's outfit when she pointed that out.

"Ah naw, it'll slow me down when I fight and what if I get knocked overboard? It'll all weigh me down so I'll be good either way."

Ro shook her head and scoffed, trying to for her unruly curly locks underneath the simple leather and metal helmet handed to her by one of the crew.

Nodessa stared at him with her acid green slitted eyes and let out a sigh. "Let's hope you're as extraordinary as the rumors say..."

"We're in range Captain Wake!" First mate Brayden yelled to the salt and pepper bearded Captain Wake. "They see us as well!" The massive ship with the squid on their sails began to advance and turn to get in range with their own archers.

"Battle stations everyone! Arrows! Pick up the rowing!"

Ro tensed up as they came closer and closer in range, her cutlass sheathed and holding her whalebone staff close to her.

"Arrows!"

Both ships were closing fast as the pirate crew of the Freeman's Paragon readied their bows, while the soldiers of the Fowl Fury were all armes with Pryldahnian repeating crossbows, which would lose their power with a longer distance.

The sounds of arrows and bolts whistling through the air and shouting of orders from both ships were nothing compared to the heavy waves of the slender sea, and it took about thirty seconds for any of the projectiles to actually make contact.

"Duck!"

"Slow the oars!"

"Venser, get over there!"

Venser jogged across the deck and disappeared in a puff of thick red smoke, reappearing on the back of the deck of the Fowl Fury much to the surprise of everyone on board. Venser unhooked the strange sword hilt on his belt and twirled it in a three sixty motion, allowing the blades to telescope into a short sword.

"What the- Get him!"

"Archers! Loose!" Cried the first mate of the Fowl Fury as he stood beside the helmsman at the wheel.

Bzzzzzt!

When a cultist sailor rushed at him with a sword Venser pushed out his left hand and a stream of magical green lightning bursts from his fingertips and struck the man, sending him flying back against the walls of the ship. He teleported back away and when he reappeared he ran his blade over his left palm, coating it with his blood. Venser then struck his sword with magical green lightning and reinforced it with the same power.

Another soldier drew his sword and started to run towards the man. Rushed rushed and when he raised his sword, Venser thrust forward and impaled the soldier in the lower chest ending his life quickly.

After the body dropped, two more soldiers swung at the handsome bearded man, but Venser quickly sidestepped one swing, while parrying the other with surprising swiftness, all while the helmsman tried to stay calm at the wheel and pilot the Fowl Fury, and the archers kept firing on hia companions. Venser pushed the opposing blade away, waving about his unstable green lightning blade. After he pushed, Venser stepped forwards, making a backhand motion and blasting the off balanced cultist soldier with a powerful gust of wind. He turned his attention back to the his other attacker and did the same. Before rushing at the helmsman and screaming, causing the cultist crossbowmen to lose their focus and all aim their fire to the man with the lightning sword causing chaos on deck.

"We've got them softened up! Let's board them!" Captain Wake let out a hearty laugh and got the Freeman's Paragon closer.

"Let's board the bastards!"

More of the cultists in dark purple and copper armor lay dead compared to the ragtag pirates as a harpoon from the Freemans Paragon punched through the hull of the Fowl Fury and bound them together.

Jumping aboard and ducking, a blade passed over Nodessa's head. She slashed at the soldier's ankle, making him fall backwards. Standing up straight, the Koran pirate plunged her short sword downward into fallen soldiers chest, killing him and raising her shield to block a couple of incoming bolts, and the cultist crew began to drop their crossbows as they began to run out of bolts, drawing their swords and clashing.

A soldier turned and swung with a sword, with Ruari just barely dodging, blocking another swing with both her whalebone staff and cutlass, kicking her foot out into his groin and slashing at his neck, killing the man.

"Oof!"

Venser was struck in the head by a the butt of a Pryldahnian autocrossbow, falling back against the railing and leaving him disoriented as he began to pass out.

A large masked cultist swung at Nodessa with a battle axe, missing and smashing a nearby banister, causing broken splinters to fly everywher. The Koran pirate shook himself off and started circling the man, trying to find an opening to attack, all before jumping forward and shield bashing him, and Ro held out the tip of her staff and pushed the massive man over the edge of the ship with a powerful gust of wind.

"You're welcome!"

A balding man with a shaved head blue eyes and extremely round features burst out of the captain's cabin, a sword in each hand. This was Captain Tylar Peraira, one of the members of the Gods of The Slender Sea.

"Come now, which dares challenge the Scourge of The Slender Sea?!"

He couldn't be heard over the chaos, and was promptly shot in the throat by a stray bolt, falling dead as the crew of the Freeman's Paragon overtook the Fowl Fury.

"Search the ship! We will drag all the cargo aboard and then have the Fowl Fury sold and scuttled!" Nodessa yelled once rhe Emery cultists were dead, and many of her own crew were looking them. As the Koran mercenary was searching Captain Peraira's body as well.

"C'mon Ven stay awake..." Ro mumbled kneeling in front of the handsome bearded man, shaking him and trying to keep him conscious while wiping away the blood on the side of his head.

"Oh wow fuck my cock that's a concussion... Oh wow that all happened so fast... Urgh." Venser mumbled sitting up and coughing a bit.

"Like what the fuck happened during all that?"

Ro sighed and shook her head.

"Everyone told you to wear a helmet..."

"Bottles of wine, rum, sugar and spices... A chest or two of silver coins but no gems. And... Holy... These will sell well." First mate Brayden muttered to himself checking below deck while Nodessa herself went to rummage through the captain's cabin.

A random crew member opened one of the many crates and found several crossbows and hand bombs, enough for a small army. Captain Peirara had been an arms dealer all along.

While the numerous, miscellaneous treasures were nice, her acid green hues widened at a simple treasure.

A journal filled with precious information on the Gods of the Slender Sea, and her target, the infamous Squall.

Who was The Squall really?

"Nodessa, we need to grab all we can and find the nearest port to sell the Foul Fury. Theres a storm coming in!"
