Telescopes of the European Space Agency photographed how two meteorites fell on the surface of a natural satellite of the Earth during the entire 24 hours.

The moon, unlike, for example, from the Earth, does not have an atmosphere and therefore is not at all protected from meteoric impacts. Telescopes ESA (European Space Agency) filmed, as in just 24 hours on the surface of the natural satellite of the Earth fell two meteorites, reports Space.com.

The blows occurred on July 17 and 18. Meteorites, apparently, are fragments of the meteoric stream of alpha-Capricornids. On the surface of the Moon, as you can see on the video, they look like bright enough, strong flares (such flares are usually attributed to short-term lunar phenomena - short anomalies like the lunar surface and near-moon space), although the objects themselves were about the size of Walnut.

Similar outbreaks on the Moon are tracked within the Moon Impacts Detection and Analysis System (MIDAS) program, which uses three observatories in Spain. As Jose Maria Madiedo, an astrophysicist at the University of Huelva, Spain, experts are trying to determine how many meteoroids fall on the moon and how often to better calculate the probability of falling meteorites on our planet. Researchers usually follow outbreaks on the "dark" side of the moon - it is natural that in this region they are easier to detect.
