#Location_details : Gummanayaka Fort is believed to have been founded around 1350 by a feudal chieftain of the Vijayanagara kingdom, Byregowda or palyagara. As many as 26 palegars (chieftains) ruled from this fort. They built temples dedicated to Sita, Rama, Lakshman and Hanuman.(LORD OF INDIANS). Since this seems to be one of the forgotten relics, it is not promoted as a tourist spot and hence you cannot find many tourists here. Public transportation to this place is also a scarce resource. It takes about one and half hours to reach the top of the fort which is constructed on a small hilly range. The view from the top is so breathtaking. One of the best places to visit for a one day road trip. Not to forget, there is a lake beside the fort in about half a kilometer and a temple built on the lake. new2.jpg
