Thanks to #steemwomens club for coming up with a great topic allowing us to look back on how we have spent 2020.

So far this year has been surprisingly good to me. I might sound rude to you but honestly, this year is very important for me. 2020 brought me many special memories to cherish forever. I was able to give time to myself and think about what I want in life.
Time is a valuable gift for me which I got in 2020. All these past years I have been chasing something else in my life not giving proper time for myself. This year turned out to be something which I never imagined. It started with many different challenges, responsibilities, and motives. Even if someone says this year has been the worst I would say it’s the best for me!

Why was this year best for me? And what are my experiences in 2020?

I was excited when stepping into 2020 because I will be starting a new chapter in life. I was totally busy planning my wedding. We had a memorable wedding ceremony on 16th January 2020. This is the year that made me a beautiful wife of the man in my heart.

For many years I have been living out of my own country, On 2020 I decided to start living in Sri Lanka without traveling back and forth. It was great to be at home with the family after a long period. And It was also a dream of mine to sit with everyone in the family and have a meal together. I know... It sounds crazy to you, But for me, I haven’t got the chance to be with the whole family and enjoy a meal together without having thought of departing.

The next special thing that happened was, we were able to buy a car for our own family. That’s also a very exciting moment for me and something which I dreamt of ever since I was a kid. Finally, I was able to travel with my family in our car. I still remember the first day we visited the temple with the family in our new car. And I’m glad that we took a vehicle during the period of my wedding planning. The decision of getting a vehicle for home helped me in many ways to organize my event beautifully.

After the corona outbreak in the mid of February, we were stuck in our homes. It was a challenging period for me. I have just started a new chapter as a wife. Hubby was home without being able to go to work. It was a bit tough period but we were strong enough to survive together in the pandemic. During that period, I learned many things from my mom. Being with mom and helping her with day to day housework, there was so much to learn! I learned many new recipes from mom and I even tried baking. I haven’t got time for all these things before but during the lockdown period, I got time to indulge in activities that I loved to do.

Not just housework I also started doing supportive classes for Kids. It is something which I never thought of doing. But I gave it a try and I liked doing it. It was helpful for kids and me as well. It helped me to reduce stress while making money. I enjoyed the time spent with my students. I was able to find a new source of income this year. And I’m glad that I could give support to my family in the hard times.

Unlike in the past years... This year I got the chance to travel to many popular destinations in Sri Lanka. I traveled to many places which I haven’t traveled before. I went to Kandy, Dambulla, Ella, Badulla, Puttalam, Anuradhapura, and Polonnaruwa. Looking back to those lovely memories still gives a smile to my face and I hope we can plan a trip next year soon.

It was a good decision I made this year to rejoin the Steemit platform when my husband introduced me to the diary game. I’m happy to see where I’m today after continuing my journey four months on Steemit. Thanks to @besticofinder, and all other Steemians who motivate me to do my best. I’m glad and happy to be a part of the Steemit family. It has helped me in several ways to improve my life and I got the chance to interact with many friends from all around the globe. I feel it’s a good chance and opportunity to share unique talents and ideas. I admire the effort of all Steemit community for making everyone's life beautiful.

What are my expectations for 2021?

As a woman, my expectations for the new year 2021 are very simple.

• Family is first, I hope to stick together with my family in both ups and downs and support them whenever needed. Now that I have to play three major roles to play in the family, as a daughter, wife, and daughter-in-law, I just hope that I get the strength to take care of all of them and to keep them happy. And one day I hope I could be the same as my mom taking care of the family.

• "Hurt no one and be kind to everyone" This is the motto for the new year and I try my best to stick to it no matter what comes on my way. I always believe in doing good to others will help me in some way when I’m in trouble.

• Lastly self-care, I should love myself before I love someone else. I need to be kind to myself first. I hope to take care of myself both in and out. I hope to do exercises more often and to stick to a healthy diet. And to drink more water. My goal is to have a healthy mind and body. And also to persuade my interests.
