Hello Steemians,

Last day, Steemit went down for few hours and the problem was in some repo-codes but after a lot of hard work and in-time patches made everyting clear and back on track! Steemit is a hotshot in blockchain and social technology. Steemit is grabbing a lot of attention in the social, decentralized and crypto market but hackers, cheaters, and abusers are trying their best to break in our codes and cause a lot of instability. When Steemit was launched back in 2016, "Assets of worth $85,00 was found to be hacked." In the past two months we have seen few such attacks or so called hacking reveals which shooked us, however, the plus point is that we anyhow managed to keep them away and they didn't cause us a lot.

SkipJack Drama!

• Back in April 2018, steemit user @skipjack stated that he and his group managed to break in login credentials of utopian-io.
• As soon as this news hit the devs, the devs behind SteemConnect and Utopian-io began their patching stuff to ensure the security of the users.
• However, it caused a lot of troubles for SteemConnect's devs and users. As a result, most of the steemit users began their manual login instead of SteemConnect's automated login system.
• Utopian-io's few users wallets seem to be compromised due to this attack. Utopian-io website went offline --under maintenance-- before coming up with more reliable security patches and features.
• In a talk with @skipjack, he stated that he has access to few hundreds of keys even after security patch been deployed and they will use it to downvote haejin and other abusers.
• Steemit crypto trader @haejin was one of the victims of this attack, Skipjack also tried to attack haejin's supporters but failed to do so.

Steemit - @nijeah's negative withdrawal

• Yesterday, Steemit user named as @nijeah tried to do some negative vest withdrawal which hanged the whole platform as a result steemit went down for few hours.
• Steemit user @bobinson came up with a post and exposed the user who created this mess. @nijeah tricked the coding however he ended up being exposed!

• The amount of negative vest withdrawal was more than the total Steem market circulation. If this happened then whole steemit blockchain was collapsed.
• After hours of works and dedication by all the backend devs and steem witness, Steemit went up and everything went normally.
• This was like a soft fork, however, HF20 seems to be nearing too. Hope that we will se HF20 happening soon.

What we learned

• This all mess shows that how strong we are and ready to defeat any abusers or cheaters of this blockchain.
• From minnows to whales, every user contributed in their own way, either by informing or announcing. This also shows that how strong relationship we have between us.
• We didn't get panicked in stressful hours, we kept everything under control and the steem market recovered well from the yesterday's mess.
• Once again a big thanks to all the whistleblowers, witness, devs and every steemit user who helped each other to sort and solve this out.
