Legacy media says crypto is a boys club

in #crypto6 years ago (edited)

So this article was suggested to me by the all knowing AI god known as my newsfeed. It suggests a lot of stories about crypto, many which seem to be written old bankers .

From the get go it's a smear job suggesting that Bitcoin is not regulated by banks and government and that is what makes it risky. What the hell? My Canadian bank account in Canadian money goes up in down in value based on the usual shitty performance of the Canadian dollar. Everyone in Canada knows its very risky to have all your retirement savings in just Canadian dollars. Risk is relative. Several countries around the world have seen their dollar become worthless, Crypto wallets on their phones are the only way they can buy food.

Lets get to the percentages. 96 percent male? While I do 99 percent of my crypto socializing right here, and avoid the neckbearded crypto pump and dump weirdos of Reddit, I feel this number is off. Steemit has a large percent of female participation. It's not just a high percent intro yourself posts here are ladies, I mean successful accounts are often owned by women. There are quite a few ladies here with a wallet I'm jealous of. Look at all the real world Steemit meetings, lots and lots of women. Not even counting accounts made by women who don't want to be harassed by internet creeps and keep their gender a secret. So is Steemit just once again different from everywhere else? The odd one out again? Like I said I mostly come here to talk about crypto and not sure what the message board scene is like.

The other thing they keep talking about is "high risk". Steemit for me right now is zero risk. I took all the money out of it I put in, and then some. Now it's just profit. If you joined Steemit before the recent boom I don't see how it's possible to not have tripled your investment. If you join now in a year you'll be rocking here. It almost takes effort to lose your money on Steemit. While people give up and quit, they didn't lose a big investment.

That's the other thing they don't mention is mining, I bet there are women, lots of them, who just fine with their husbands Etherium mining rig bringing them easy money every month. That's not going to lose all their money, but if you lost your house because you took a huge risk on crypto you are an idiot. Everyone knows you shouldn't risk more than you can afford to lose. It's just there are other ways to be into crypto, mining, Steem Blogging, Faucets, that are low or no risk. The article doesn't mention any of that. At least one the top comments is "anyone can buy a rig and mine". They have since closed comments. Hey you can comment on my blog forever!

I guess writing about the large percent of women in ICOs is a good thing. Did these women just get hired after modelling school? I guess no, I think they probably have a nice technical background and probably have participated in crypto scene before.

CBC though, my tax dollar funded state media of Canada, needs to quit shitting on crypto. They can't wait for a huge crash. Me either because I will buy a bunch again. This is the line I am going to quote, it's just so moronic:

""As long as you are one of those incredibly clever people who buys when it's low and sells on the way up.""
Quote from www.cbc.ca/news/business/bitcoin-s-gender-divide-could-be-a-bad-sign-experts-say-1.4458884

Wait what? That's not clever just common sense. Buy low sell high that's capitalism. Crypto is more than guys risking everything they have on shitcoins. I have only made money on it, I never lost anything. If you can't leave a wallet for a year and half and not touch it crypto isn't for you. I would say the biggest thing you need is patience. But the people making money aren't geniuses just regular people. During 2017 you almost had to try to lose money because BTC, ETH, LTC, Ripple all gained. It was all the best known coins. And if the bubble bursts I will buy more.

This article sucked I give it a D.

I am looking for a crypto millionairess to take care of me actually.

That's sexist!

As males lost interest and trust in financial markets and saleries shrank we moved on. Females filled the roll many as part time or casual. But interest, excitement and trust is back and so are the guys.

Bitcoin is not regulated by banks and government and that is what makes it risky.
