History of Nahargarh Fort:

It was the first of the three palaces built by the Maharaja. The original name of the fort was Sudarshangarh, which was later converted to Nahargarh, which means 'residence of tigers'. Although the old structure of the fort has now changed to ruins, the palace built in the 19th century by Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh and Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh is still in good condition.

There is a strange history behind this fort's name change. According to the myth, the land on which this fort was built was a Rathore named after Rajkumar Nahar Singh Bhumulia. After his death, his soul guards this holy place and he did not like the construction work of this fort. Any work that the laborers did here would be wasted at night. Therefore, to calm Nahar Singh's soul, a small fort was built in the name of Nahar Singh, in which his soul could live comfortably. Later a temple was built on his name. In this way, the fort was named Nahargarh fort.
