How to become a leader?
In this module, I will explore the concept of leadership, how to become a leader, the factors of effective leadership, which ultimately can lead to organizational innovation and efficiency.
In their work, each of us and I, including, met different leaders, otherwise they are called formal leaders. Some of them were brilliant leaders, others were not. Remembering what was the difference between them, I understand that some wanted to follow and take an example from them, they were real organizers, and others had to be perceived simply as managers on duty. Psychologists, experts and scientists determine leadership — it's always an influence. A leader is a person who can influence the opinion and behavior of the human masses. An important factor in leadership is followers and their perception of their leader. In the history of the 20th and 21st centuries, there are examples of leadership, when followers were entire Nations who listened to the voice of the leader and followed him, changing their own beliefs and views, not understanding that the views of their leader are anti-human.
Psychologists divide leaders into formal and informal.
A formal leader is someone who has the title of group leader, for example, chief, CEO, leader of the country, because they hold an official position. Informal leaders are those who have influence over their followers without having a formal leadership position.
How do leaders appear and what is it like to be a leader?
If you conduct a survey among people, there are those who think, say that he can be a leader. This means that a person can take responsibility and lead the followers. In this case, we can talk about the leadership qualities of this particular person. There is a category of people who will immediately give up leadership, they do not feel a leader, because they do not have an influence on the opinion of people and will not be able to captivate followers. More often it seems that leaders can only be extroverts, because they are sociable, cheerful, energetic. But this is not so, because there is no dependence on the type of character, but there is a dependence on the qualities of the person. Charismatic personalities can have an impact on people and have followers who would like to be like their leaders. In this case, it is important to always think about your own management scheme and the scheme of others, if you achieve similarity in these schemes, you can talk about the leadership qualities of the individual.
What does an effective leader mean?
The concept of transactional leadership and transformational leadership I study for the first time.
Transactional leadership involves good leadership performance if it is based on clear instructions and has sufficient resources to accomplish tasks and goals. Here there is a material reward, which depends on the behavior of the employee and the leader is always in control of the process and productivity, as well as at any time can correct mistakes if suddenly productivity begins to decline.
This methodology can be called the Foundation of effective leadership and a leader who adheres to these foundations will be effective.
Transformational leadership is when you have the fundamentals of transactional leadership, but you also apply additional motivational tools, such as intellectual stimulation, individualized consideration, inspirational motivation, and idealized influence.
Leadership and organizational change.
We live in the age of organizational changes and it is natural that new technologies appear and we must keep up with the technological progress. And also people, life values and priorities change and we have to be ready to these changes. Therefore, a leader who understands that organizational changes are inevitable in his company should first of all see for himself and have a clear idea that future changes will lead the company to better results. Again, the leader has to admit that any employee resistance is a natural process because people always have resistance to change because you're out of the comfort zone and don't know what to expect. And at such a moment everything depends on the leader, on his own conviction, enthusiasm, optimism, ability to answer questions honestly and openly, to give only truthful information, to talk with employees, convinced that changes will definitely benefit the company and all its employees including.
My conclusions on this module.
For myself, I realized that an effective leader is a leader who knows how to manage people, he inspires them with his example and has the resources to perform tasks. His perseverance, will, ability to listen and convince people, will be able to increase the number of his followers who will change their opinion and will follow his leader. Ultimately, their joint work will be aimed at achieving effective results in the implementation of specific goals and increasing productivity
