Using spider silk to make skin armor - Real life Sci-fi Tech
Just had to share this with all the sci-fi geeks on Zappl. Currently they only have prototypes. But think about making these into regular cloths that would effectively turn all clothes into bullet-proof vests.

wow, this is amazing! Even though I doubt it will be used to make clothes to make people safer. If this project is complete and they create a usable product, it will probably just be used by the military. Imo this will just advance warware. Hopefully not!
Empires are spreading themselves too thin and building themselves on debt. The procedure seems to be time consuming and military industrial complex is full of bureaucracy. At best these will be used for Black Ops. Evil is always self-destructive. Military isn't that hell bent on the best tech. It's a bureaucratic mess that's wasting money on all sorts of things. We don't have a whole lot to fear.
I was at a technology fair and they were working on non-Newtonian fluid body armor. Silk was used as to make arrow proof capes in feudal Japan.
I know about the samurai armor. It was a side effect of the rich nobles. They want the best gadgets for themselves. If the modern generals were forced to go to war, they'd be forced to make exo-skeletons that look like a prototype Iron Man. But these days decisions are made on cozy chairs.
