A lazy Bearcat on a sunny day.
Back in, 2012 I took a trip to the, West Coast Game Safari which is located on the southern, Oregon coast. While I was there, I came across this fuzzy critter. Not being native to the area where I live, I was instantly captivated. From what I was told, we were lucky to see it out catching some sun. I guess quite a bit of the time, it likes to hide in its habitat. After all, we only get nice sunny days a few months out of the year here. For those of you who have never been here, the North West is actually considered a rain forest.
As stated in the title, this fuzzy critter is known as a Bearcat or as a Binturong. The sign in the park said they are native to, Southern Asia. I have been told the name loosely translates into, bear-weasel. After getting a good look at it, I would have to agree. It's like a weasel thats the size of a small bear. As scary as that sounds, it actually seemed to be quite a low energy creature. By far, this was one of my most favorite animals of the day.
