The novelty of Spanish cinematography in the genre of mystical horror will obviously appeal to those who like simple frightening stories, where the main characters are children. I am sure that many people know the director who made this picture, because probably every horror lover saw his trilogy "[Rec]". After all, even the Americans, being impressed by the first film, withdrew their version. Of course, the proceedings did not come out as impressive as the first film, but still the director Paco Plaza has already earned a name, so now the name works for him.
Particular interest in this picture is that all the events shown in the film occurred in reality in the early nineties in Spain. One high school student with her friends at the time of the eclipse held a mystical ritual with the board of Wigi. To everyone's surprise, the simple fun of young girls turned for the main character into a terrible nightmare in reality. The girl began to feel the presence of paranormal activity around herself and her family. The events in the film were described in detail in the police reports of the city of Madrid. They were the basis of the film.
Of course, I will not say that this is a new masterpiece of a talented director, but it is definitely worth watching a film, because it is shot well and competently. The script though and is simple, but interesting. But most of all I was interested in two things: the acting of two little girls and the original music. According to the plot, the main character had younger two sisters and a very small brother. True expression and incomparable natural talent of two little girls, who simply fascinated with their energy. Compared with them, the game of the elder sister (the main character) is not even close by. But the most pleasant thing in the film, of course, is music. We hear quite original and recognizable motifs, because the musical atmosphere of the eighties has been haunting contemporary cinema for some time. But in this case, it is perfectly suited, as the very events of the film have not far gone from the eighties.
But, despite all the charms of the new horror, there are some disadvantages in the film. Firstly, I was not very impressed with the main character, I did not like her game and all sorts of emotions. To scream, of course, the girl tried to be good, but in general the actor's presentation looked unconvincing. Secondly, looking through the film, you can immediately understand that the budget of the picture is rather small, that many will clearly disappoint, but still the director has tried to withstand the escalating situation in the best traditions of mystical horror.
In general, if you are not too demanding a spectator and are not a passionate admirer of horror films, then this film will seem weak to you, but I wish everyone a pleasant viewing. Personally, I was always attracted to mystical stories based on real events.
Sorry for my breacking english ;)
