The way of the Heart part 1
I've come to some realizations over the past few days. One of which is telling me that I don't know how much I really don't know about blogging. Another is that I have a way to go before I can log into my steemit account on a computer. My current machine is lacking in the ram field.
Another realization is that I've got a whole world of opportunity set out in front of me, and it's up to me whether I grasp these opportunities or not. Not to get all mamby pamby on ya or anything, but I can explain.
During the six years I spent out in the open road travelling about, clearing my mind, and developing my better senses; I have come across some pretty amazing things. Not to toot my own horn. With those things, I have come across some rather unfortunate events as well.
We can look at the love affair I took off for to Oregon. It may be a long story, and I'm just not sure where to begin with the many layers of experience I had in my life for the time. So I'll hope you enjoy the longer version.
I am a big Rainbow family gathering buff from a few years back. If you've got any idea of what that means, you'll realize there is alot of bad media and misconceptions around the family. Alot of which I will explain later. There is a hidden gift in the message though. Many of them.
I attended the international gathering in 2011 on Vancouver Island, and spent alot of time in the main kitchen cooking, preparing, and sometimes overseeing the meals. One of the more notable nights I had there was one where I took the lead with my Mexican brother Ro to cook empanadas for 200 hippies. In the bush. Over fires. As I'm sure you can imagine, this took a drastic amount of effort. But in the family, we all come together to help one another whenever the call is put out. Especially when it comes to feeding the bellies of many. So we (about 20 of us) all took part in a wonderful assembly line to delicatessen delight. A hard evening of work ensued, and we produced for the team. Thirteen courses were served from the main kitchen that night. Pickle sauce, a few varieties of pics the salsa, rice daal, and a fine sweet pumpkin soup. Dinner lasted the entire night through song and dance around the fire. That time caught me the eye of one wonderful woman from Quebec. I'll Sare the details for her sake, but she was enamored with the ability I displayed to help make such dream a reality. Progressively we grew closer. And our hearts grew fonder. I'm the kind of guy who likes to know a person before I get romantically involved, but we did share a few nights under the stars. It was beautiful. Glowing auras surrounding us, shared moments of intimacy in the fondest way. But never beyond the line of intercourse. Just clean good romantic nights.
As the gathering drew to a close, I came to know that I had to move along to picking mushrooms in the forest for my livelihood, and to make my living since everything I'd brought with me had been put into the magic hat for meals throughout. The beautiful thing about the experience in life on this level is that hat never emptied. Everyone made their contributions, and we lived like kings and Queen's that we are. In a remote hidden area. Surrounded by old growth forest. And, in spite of the media reports. We did leave the area in much better shape than it was in prior to our arrival.
The mushroom camp we established was some twenty minutes drive down old logging roads near the garbage dump they established in the park. We picked so many chanterelle mushrooms that we didn't even know what to do with them. Eatting exotic gourmet mushrooms for every meal. Sampling different ways of eatting them. Sustaining ourselves off what little other provisions we had for the time. And roasting them on sticks. Which, if your wondering. Gives them a sweet raisin like smoked flavour with a crispy nutty texture which is even more amazing than the chanterelle itself. Wow!
Our days were spent in the forest picking, following the mushroom trail, learning the language, and the way of the spore. While our evenings were spent in good company. Four of us, singing, telling stories, and being threatened by random passersby about signs of wild animals in our area. We woukd laugh, for the thought that those same animals had just past by our cap watching us momentarily, gaining a better view from the tops of trees and then having their mother bear scurry them off down the trail. Or the case of the mountain lion. Heard but not seen. Had taken the time to sing along a happy tune we had broke out in for a time. What a thing it was to hear the sounds of a mountain lion, such magnificent perfect killer of the deciduous rainforest, to join us in song from the Dell across the road. Just gives me a chill of truth to think of it.
Please stay tuned..
