香港遊踪 #2 -唯港薈吃自助餐|Hong Kong To Walk #1 – Buffet in Hotel Icon

大家好，這次的香港遊踪有點特別，因為“遊”不是重點，“吃”才是。但因為想要介紹的這個吃東西的地方有點特別，所以就放在遊踪這一類吧！事源因為我的上司最近升職了，所以他決定跟我們部門的同事請客，最後的方案是決定吃自助餐。說到吃，最後還是由部門裏面的女生決定了。而她們最後決定到這間酒店吃自助餐 - 唯港薈。

Hello everyone, there is something special for the Hong Kong To walk this time, as this time I focus more on “Eat” than “Walk”. However, as the place I eat is quite special, I think I should put it in the To Walk series. The story starts from my boss who got promoted recently, so he decided to treat our team dinner, and finally we decided to have a buffet. And finally, girls in our team decided to have our buffet in a hotel – Hotel Icon.

說真的，像我這種貧窮線下的人是沒有去過這間酒店啦，所以就先作了一些資料搜集。之後我就發現這間酒店挺特別的，它特別的地方不在於是什麼大集團所營辦，反而是它是由香港理工大學所擁有！它的原址為理工大學的教職員宿舍，但是在2011年就變成了一間酒店，是香港境內第二所由院校全資擁有的酒店。

To be honest, for poor people like me, I have never been into this hotel, so I do some research on the internet and find this hotel is quite special. The special not because of the hotel is operated by those big brand, but the hotel is fully owned by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (“HKPU”). The location was original a staff quarters for HKPU, but in year 2011, it became a hotel, and it is the second hotel which fully own by a university in Hong Kong.

大家可能奇怪，一間大學要一間酒店來做什麼？原來它的其中一個目的是為理工大學的酒店管理系的學生提供教學跟實習的地方。但別以為這就只不過是教學的程度，在玩玩而已。這間酒店從設計到營運都花了很多的心思跟努力的。在2011年該酒店就獲得了香港建築師學會「全年境內大獎」，而且酒店在2012年獲得了旅遊網站TripAdvisor的「2012年旅客之選獎」中「中國25大最佳飯店」及「中國25大最佳服務飯店」。於2014年的6月，酒店亦獲網路旅遊公司Expedia選為全球最佳酒店之一。所以別以為服務跟質素會比不上一般的酒店！

You may be curious why a university need a hotel? The purpose of the hotel is providing teaching and internship facility/ location to their Hotel Management student. But don’t think that it is just a teaching place and ignore. The hotel had paid a lot of effort from the design to the operation. In year 2011, the hotel was awarded the “Annual Awards” from The Hong Kong Institute of Architects. In year 2012, the hotel was awarded the “Travelers' Choice Award Winner” from TripAdvisor. In year 2014, the hotel got the “Expedia Insiders' Select”. So, the service and the quality of the hotel could compete with other hotels!

唯港薈的地理位置很方便，就在紅磡火車位的旁邊。大家可以在上面的圖片中看到，它基本上就在紅磡隊道的旁邊，從地鐡站走過去大概在5到10分鐘之內。大家可以參考一下下面的大堂相片，空間感是挺大的。不過我前幾天去的時候有一點小失望，因為我一直抱著能看見活生生的女大學的在裏面教學或是實習的希望，可卻都沒有看到。最後我的同事提醒我因為現在剛剛開學，所以是沒有教學跟實習的。我聽到後感覺快要哭了，心想：“那為什麼要選這一間酒店啊？反正上司請客，早知道敲詐他半島或是自助山好了。”

The location of Hotel Icon is very convenient, it is right next to the Hung Ham MTR Station. You can see the above photo, it is just next to the Hung Ham tunnel, and it only takes 5 to 10 minutes to walk from the MTR station. You may reference to the below photo for the hotel lobby, there are enough impression of space. But when I visited there few days ago, I felt kind of disappointed, as I always think that I can see those university student girls having their lesson or internship in the hotel. However, I cannot see any one of them. And I was reminded by my colleague that the semester was just started in September, there should have no lesson and internship at this period.

所以，我很快的就直接走到二樓的餐聽 “THE MARKET”，它的主題是源自亞洲和歐洲富有特色的食品市場，充滿活力的氣息及新鮮的食材，設有多個開放式廚房，為客人供應多元化的國際美食。餐廰的設計比較簡約，座位的密度不會太高，燈光跟空調都很舒服，不會給人家侷促或是太冷的感覺。

So, I just walk to restaurant on the second floor - “THE MARKET”, the main theme of the restaurant was inspired by the iconic food markets of Asia and Europe with their vibrant atmosphere and fresh produce, The Market's open kitchens serve the finest international classics. The design of the restaurant is kind of simplicity style. And the intensity of seat is not high, the light and air-conditioning is comfortable.

下面我分享一下它有提供的食物跟當中的擺設吧。首先我們看一看海鮮吧，有蟹腳、青口、還有龍蝦，不過可惜沒有生蠔。不過蟹腳十分鮮甜，值得一讚。

And please let me introduce some food to you below. First let’s see the sea food bar, there are crab feet, mussels, and lobster, but unfortunately there is no oyster. The crab legs are very sweet and fresh, you must try it.

然後就是刺生吧了，有三文魚、吞拿魚跟帶子之類的普通刺生。個人推介帶子刺生，十分新鮮。

Then is the Sashimi bar, there are salmon, tuna and scallop. I personally suggest scallop, it is very fresh.

然後就是今天的主題吧，今天的主題是意式生牛薄片，十分好吃。

And then there is daily theme, today is Beef Carpaccio, very delicious!

還有就是廚房提供的不同熱食，有羊架、牛扒、各種飯加薄餅，還有鵝肝的說，鵝肝煎得十分美味。

And there are open kitchen which provide you a lot of hot food, including sheep, steak, all kinds of rice and pizza. And there is Foie Gras! Yummy!

還有最重要的甜品吧，各種甜品都十分好吃，不過我是十分推介餐廰最近的主題 – 榴蓮。餐廰還用上了貓山王榴蓮，大家有機會的話一定要試試。

And it comes the most important dessert bar, all kinds of dessert is so delicious. But I highly suggest the seasonal theme – Durian. The restaurant use the Musang King Durian, you must try it!

還有很多的食物不能盡錄，但我的評論是食物都十分好吃。雖然餐廰沒有生蠔或是什麼特別昂貴的食材，但是可以吃得出他們所提供的菜色都用上了十分好跟新鮮的材料，而且從食物賣相跟供應方面都做得十分好，所以我是十分滿足的。當然最滿足的還是這餐飯不用付錢。對了，要是你喜歡喝酒的話這裏也有各種酒類可以讓你追加，但當然要額外付費了，不過記得不要像我的上司一般喝的爛醉了……

And there is a lot of other food which I cannot put it all down. But my comment is they are all so delicious. Well, the restaurant do not have oyster or some special food provided, but, you can see that all cuisine they provided is using good and fresh ingredient. And for the appearance and the supply of food, they are just doing well, so, I am very pleased with it. And of course I am most pleased by I don’t have to pay for it. Oops, yes, you can also order a wine if you want, but of course, you need to additionally pay. And remember, don’t got drunk like my boss……
