In personal branding, everything counts and what you do can either take you up or bring you down. There are a few laws of branding that you can adopt when building your personal brand.
LAW OF SPECIALIZATION: focus on one area, you can’t be everything to everyone, people need to know you for something so that they can be able to describe you in simple and clear terms.
LAW OF PERSONALITY: your brand should be built around your personality, remember that personal branding is an extension of you. So it has to be built around who you really are.
LAW OF LEADERSHIP: You have to be recognized as one of the most respectable and looked up to in your field. This would come after specialization so look for something you can be a leader in.
LAW OF DISTINCTIVENESS: This is the ability to be able to express your brand in a unique way.
LAW OF VISIBILITY: your brand must be seen repeatedly and consistently, be out there where people can see you all the time.
LAW OF UNITY: Your behaviour behind closed doors should match your public brand, you should always be the same o the outside as you are on the inside.
LAW OF PERSISTSTENCE: Once you have established your personal brand, give it time to grow, ignore trends, fads and changes and be consistent all the time.
LAW OF GOODWILL: The more you are perceived as good, amazing, excellent etc. the more influential your brand would be.
Remember, Personal branding is something that sets you up to become successful faster than others, you tend to get jobs faster, you are paid higher and you are treated with more respect.
