Get Your Kicks on Route 66!
Just got these bad boys in the mail. They go with my Icons of Route 66 series from Apmex which just released a 2nd coin. That will be coming up tomorrow. Today we'll look at these boring Route 66 rounds.
Obverse
This coin features the Iconic Route 66 road sign with the abbreviations of the states the highway traveled through to the left. The dots around the perimeter of the shield and within the numbers are representative of the glass cateye reflectors used to illuminate the original signs during nighttime driving.
Reverse
The reverse features the Route 66 road sign with the traditional phrase "Get Your Kicks" and the weight and fineness surrounding. Segmented lines around the edge represent the road dividing lines used to separate lanes on the highway.
The coin was created to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the road opening. I can't believe the road is still around. If it were here in Michigan it would be dirt now. Even the roads they built in the past couple roads are nearly impassable with pot holes that will swallow compact cars with ease. Enough about our shitty roads. This coin isn't the most flashy but I like it, and will be collecting the whole Route 66 series.
It's available right now from Apmex for $18.28 if you buy less than ten with a debit/credit card. 1 oz Silver Round - Get Your Kicks on Route 66. All info provided on this coin came from Apmex.
Stay tuned tomorrow for the 2nd coin in the Icons of Route 66 series. It's way cooler than this one.

I don't understand why you did not like this round. I have seen so many worse than it...
There are plenty worse. This one is just a little plain for my liking. Thought they would maybe add something from the time it was opened. Or at least put the date of the anniversary on it. It's not bad I suppose. The others in the series are better as you'll see tomorrow. Thanks for stopping @ronaldoavelino.
Nothing boring about the route 66 rounds to me buddy! I think they're fantastic generics!
For generics they aren't bad I guess. Wish they had more than the Route 66 sign on both sides. The ones tomorrow are way cooler. Thanks for checking it out @fat-elvis.
Those are neat generics
I haven't thought about melting them yet..... Thanks for stopping by @pit-bullion.
The roads in IN are crap too and I thought it was only us. Haha! The back of the coin almost reminds me of a poker chip in a casino. I am looking forward to seeing the next coin!
The roads here are terrible. So bad, Dominos is paying people to fix the pot holes because they are ruining the pizza deliveries. True story.
It does look like a poker chip. They rest of the coins are awesome. Tomorrow you will see number 2 in the series. I dig it.
Thank you for your continued support of SteemSilverGold
Thanks @ssg-community for always rockin. 🤘
@vgholdingsllc I can see where you thinknthis round is boring when comparing it to the Icons of Route 66 series however I think it actually becomes better when paired with the series. It gives guidance and context to that serues and serves as a kind of book end if you will. I am still designing the case for the series including this round and am excited about the series as a whole. Thanks for sharing!
