Spider Coccoon
Hi everyone o/
Hope you are all having a good week!
If you've been following me for a while, you'd know that I occasionally try to highlight and promote other Steemian whose works strike a chord with me, and today, I wanna give a huge shout out to @blastik :D
I have very undeveloped eye for photography but I've been following his blog for a while now and his photos ALWAYS make me happy :> He updates regularly, usually only with one photo per post, and each one has a lovely aspect or composition or lighting or the subject is just super adorable * ___ *
Anyway, as usual, to do my appreciation post, I have made a sketchy from @blastik's beautiful photos :>
Warning:
I have no idea what I am doing since I never draw off photos so ...... YES i know the people don't really look like the ones in the reference because i dont have proper art foundation hooray :D .... me is learning okay :3 :3 :3
Blastik Appreciation Art Section hohoho
So here is the picture that I made from @blastik's photos! I decided to try the pink paper for this task because I thought it'd give the picture a bit of life instead of working off my usual neutral white base :> As for my tool, I opted for my 2B tiny pencil, because it has never failed me so far :D
The first photo I wanted to appreciate is the latest one, of black-winged stilt - if you go through @blastik's posts, make sure you open the photos' full size cuz they are amazing * ___ *
Here is the birdy sketchy result:
Then I moved on to ... people, because I wanted to try to draw realism. I failed completely, of course. You see, I suffer from a syndrome that has plagued some comic / anime artists..... my mind eye translates certain things into idealized or anime proportions and what comes out is.... isn't what is on the reference. This is why I never work off photos, lol. I just can't do it > ___ <;;;;
Anyway, this is the reference, of a mother and child, a lovely photo, with gorgeous glow * ___ *
Finally, having been punched in my art-guts by making the mother an anime person, I ran back to try and recover some of my art self-esteem by finding another bird to appreciate. So, this Sunday Stork was my saviour~
And here is the final result of the three sketch pieces as one piccar:
So, there you go! My shout out to @blastik for giving me gorgeous pick-me-up photos and I encourage you all to check out his blog, because it is lovely and full with wonderful photos :>
One last thing before I close this off !!
ATTENTION CAT LOVERS:
@blastik loves cats and has a periodical cat updates XD ( * ___ * !!!!!!!!!! )
Here is one that he recently uploaded, so cute and lookit that paw up in the air so acrobatic XD <3333
...
In hindsight, I should have picked the cat to draw? I kinda sorta know how to draw cats XD;;;;
Ah well, next time, I suppose :D

WOW! Your sketches are wonderful!!!!
thank you so much @carolineschell !!! <3
Thank you for sharing!!!! :-D
This is such a cool way to appreciate other steemians, well done. I love cats too so paws up for that cute photo.
I like the pink ground as well, sometimes when drawing digitally I'll just drop different solid colours behind my drawings and it's amazing how it changes the mood of the drawing so much.
thank you so much, donna <3 im glad they are appreciated, all of these underrated talents on steemit deserve all the love they should get~
that cat is super adorable, right ??? :D
and yes, paper colour does affect mood so much !
The most important thing is that the reference gets diluted and does not appear above the artist's work. Distortion, interpretation are very useful tools so that nobody ever knows, that was made from a photo.
You have a strong personality, that is what this exercise reveals.
Well done, mademoiselle !
thank you, javier ! i am glad for your comments, as always <3
Solid art style from you, as always.
thank you, joe ! as always, i appreciate your comments <3

Firstly, realism is hard mmkay.
Secondly wtf spodey those drawings look amazing. I can't find this failure you're complaining about XP The pink paper was an interesting choice, do like that it let you use white which gave all those highlights that little extra something :)
ya realism is haaaaaaaaard
ty ryry, you are so nice amg * ___ *
and ya, the white highlights were fun to do :D :D :D
What an astonishing tribute of my work! To say I'm flattered is to say nothing! I can hardly believe it is me, that superb photographer you are appreciating... It is so exciting to know that my pictures do not leave you indifferent.
And your sketches are THE exciting surprise! It is such a pleasure to see your interpretation of my photographs. What a talent! You managed to capture the soul of photographs in your drawings. Isn't it what the art about, manifesting the essence? Well done Master, well done indeed!
Thank You for your will to help, Thank You for caring, Thank You for all good words! I couldn't receive a better gift and injection of positiveness!
<3 <3 <3

I love your illustrations, but more I like your little pencil hahahahaha is cute and tender like you <3
thank you so much ! i am feeling so warm from this comment <3
Great sketches spider!! I like that you just combined them all into one picture, though it makes the mother looks longingly at the stork???! It might not be what you intended, but then I can invent stories in my head of what's going on and that's what I like about it XD.
And I think you draw just fine from reference, since you managed to capture the essence of the photos, and to me, that is most important. Your pencil sketches are so lovely also, they look good :).
lol
i can't unsee now
the mother is all like.... that stork looks tasty hmmmm
