Quick sketch on the Procreate 4 public beta
I updated to the iOS 11 beta the other day and now I’m having issues drawing with my versions of Procreate. I’m experiencing drastic latency issues and it’s annoying. Right as I was getting into a good rhythm the pencil starts to glitch and I felt compelled to chuck my iPad across the room. Before things escalated @kommienezuspadt lent me his iPad to draw for the afternoon and suggested that I try out the Procreate 4 beta that was e-mailed to him.
Hopefully Procreate will e-mail me back and I’ll get to download my own copy of the beta. Then I could peacefully draw again. I don’t have a backup for my iPad so I have to patiently wait or just deal with these technology woes.😒
I did a tough outline of a face with the HB pencil tool before going in with a light wash of color with the watercolor tool. It does look more like watercolors but it still looks like a wet marker brush to me.
Blending is a little easier and I’ve got more control with where the paint will land. It’s still missing something but I’ll have to mess around with the other brushes. I plan on test out the other brushes and make a recap video on my findings but that won’t be until I get my own copy. It’s not very practical for @kommienezuspadt to constantly lend me his iPad.
I went back in with the HB pencil to add more depth to certain features of her face. I still wanted the overall look to remain soft so I used a navy tone for her eyes and a taupe color for her brows, nose, and lips.
Sorry for the tech woes! Makes me more content to stay away from the "bleeding edge" of tech, since I have been tempted to try some of the betas myself.
I like the style, even more so if it really clicks with the tone of the story you're working on. Something about the color palette and softness really makes me think of Yoshitaka Amano.
This was the one exception I made to test a beta and I regret it!
Yeah, I'm still thinking up a storyline. That's awesome that it makes you think of Yoshitaka Amano because I'm a fan of Vampire Hunter D.
