Inktober Day 8: Star

Arwen’s Evenstar

Yes, I drew a pictured related to Lord of the Rings again! 😁 If you recognize the pendent then you’ll know that this was given to Aragorn in the film by Arwen. Fun fact! In the books it was referred to as the “white jewel” upon her chest but in the film it’s called the Evenstar (Evening Star), which is one of Arwen’s names. I did not know that..I guess I’ll have to level up my nerd game.

I was going to freehand sketch this until I remembered the handy symmetry tool that Procreate has. Yay! Lifesaver!

After I got the lines inked, I began to adjust the shape of the pendent until it looked close to the image references that I had pulled.

Next the details of what looks to be either leaves or feathers behind the jewels.

Details in the jewels....which aren’t perfect. This is definitely looking like a page from a coloring book.

Shading with light feathery strokes.

The image was looking flat and it was hard to make out the shapes because of all the details so I went in with an ink marker to darken the shadows. I probably could’ve deepened the shadows more so I could added highlights to make the jewel shine but I got tired and needed to go home.

Spending my evening drawing at @caffetto was a dream but now I’m home and I’m off to bed! Goodnight!
