Anime that I watch while I draw

in #anime9 years ago (edited)

If you’re looking for a new series to check out then I suggest that you take a look into my anime watch list. I usually have anime playing in the background for extra stimulation as I draw. It’s actually been a huge distraction since I end up liking most of the shows which were chosen at random. Let me know what you think about each series at the end of this post!

BLEND-S

Tsundere, Imouto (little sister type), etc. are only a few of the personas that the cafe waitresses play out here. And the new hire Maika, is asked by the store manager to play none other than the super sadist!? As she becomes devoted to her work, her super sadist persona blooms unexpectedly... Everything is a treat - even being stomped on - in this outrageous work comedy. (Source: Crunchyroll)

This anime is so cute and the characters are extremely lovable. For some reason it reminds me of Ouran High School Host Club.

The Ancient Magus’ Bride

Chise Hatori, 15 years old. Lost, without hope, and without family, she is bought for money - not by another person, but by a non-human sorcerer named Elias. Though she hesitates, she begins life anew as his apprentice and future wife. (Source: Crunchyroll)

I fell in love with The Ancient Mangus’ Bride after watching the first episode of the Prelude. I’ve already begun collecting issues of the manga and so far the anime adaptation is just as beautiful. This has easily become one of my favorites.

Yuri!!! On ICE

Yuri Katsuki carries the hope of all Japan on his shoulders in the Figure Skating Grand Prix, but suffered a crushing defeat in the finals. He returned to his hometown in Kyushu and hid away in his family’s home, half wanting to continue skating and half wanting to retire. That was when the five-time consecutive world champion, Viktor Nikiforov, suddenly showed up with his teammate, Yuri Plisetsky, a young skater starting to surpass his seniors. And so the two Yuris and the Russian champion Viktor set out to compete in a Grand Prix like none the world has ever seen! (Source: Crunchyroll)

I finished this anime last year but had to rewatch it now that it’s colder out. It’s such a wonderful ‘feel-good’ series. I also love how they’ve tied in popular social media elements.

AHO-GIRL

She is Hanabatake Yoshiko, and she’s an idiot through and through. She loves bananas, and she loves her childhood friend Akkun. That is all! Summer 2017, Aho Girl gets its long-waited anime! Watching it will surely cheer you up, probably? (Source: Crunchyroll)

This anime is ridiculously funny. I couldn’t find any trailers for the series, probably because the episodes are short so it would spoil it. I’ve got the opening theme for the first episode below which you will either love or hate.

Thanks for checking out this post!

Have you seen any of these titles? 🦊

@vermillionfox - not sure how you manage to watch anime while you are drawing, but I suppose if I had to perhaps I would have anything from Studio Ghibli on so at least I can enjoy the music. I have actually watched only one of the anime on your list, but I won't say which one (because that wasn't your question :p).

Hahah. You watched Mushi-shi, right? The music is really good. Natsume's Book of Friends is also a good watch.

Yes, that was an excellent recommendation so it is much appreciated! Both the animation and music are brilliant and there is just something mystical and intriguing about it that I just can't put into words...

I was thinking like you, but my daughter does the same thing. I am old-school. If I do listen to anything it is music (and lately podcasts). I do enjoy watching anime - but normally the visuals are the most important for me and I can't see two places at one time.

Sometimes it really is just an excuse for me to take long breaks as I draw. 😝 I do listen to music when I'm at the coffee shop but there is always a chance that I'll really feel the music and wanna break out into song!

big fan of the ancient mangus bride , the other am sure i have seen them . my favorite is samuraix

Oh, samurai x is good. I've been wanting to watch trust and betrayal again.

@vermilionfox, definitely will be watching the Ancient Magnus bride

Awesome! I hope you enjoy it. :)

I was particularly recommended to The Ancient Magus' Bride, although I could not find it in the anime, I found it with the name of Mahoutsukai no Yome, the presentation I saw of this one I liked, apart I think it has romance scenes, to make it more interesting . @vermillionfox, I'm also an anime addict, although I still have many to see.

Yeah, there is so much! That’s why I have to multitask when I’m multitasking so I can keep up with all the new shows being released!

I was huge into anime for years, but kind of fell out of it for a while, so I haven't seen any of these, but will for sure be checking them out. I've been wanting to find a fun series for a while. BLEND-S and AHO-GIRL both look quite amusing.

They’re hilarious. Definitely not made for kids!

I have seen Yuri on Ice. I liked it instantly!
Also, I think I've read the manga of The Ancient Magus' Bride. Will be looking forward to watch the anime adaptation to it. Thank you for a great post @vermillion

I get the tingles whenever I watch Yuri on Ice. It’s so sweet. Thank you and let me know what you think of the anime after seeing it!

Right? I also know someone who watched Japan Figure Skating because of Yuri on Ice..

Yes of course, I'll tell you about it when I've watched Mahoutsukai 😊😊😊

I saw a video clip awhile back of a figure skater doing the ‘J, J’ pose. Super cute to see that real life figure skaters are also watching the show.

JJ's really funny. Especially the bonus episode where he intruded on Yuri and Victor's engagement. I got a laugh from that :D :D

Not familiar with any of these, but the pictures remind me of a program we watched a long time ago. Don't remember the name, but it involved a car that could do some amazing tricks..

I used to have a TV in my studio and had stuff like the discovery channel running. Today I mostly listen to audio books while I paint.

Hmm, listening to an audio book sounds like a pretty good idea. The only one I have is Atlas Shrugged and I’ve never tried listening while drawing so I’m not sure if I’ll get distracted.

The Ancient Mangus’ Bride might be something I'd like. I'll have to follow up on that.

Children who chase lost voices is another really good one. The world they’ve created is wonderful.

Thanks! A bit different, I'm going to be watching "Loving Vincent" tonight. Its a film about Vincent Van Gogh, entirely painted in his style.

I like how the title sounds! I'll have to look into that.

The official movie website "Loving Vincent".
