A show of hands

in #art8 years ago (edited)

Hand studies for tonight because I wasn’t able to finish any of my other drawings. I’ve had a good streak of satisfactory drawings so I was bound to have a day where things weren’t going to plan. Either way, these were fun to do and I feel like hands are something I could always use more practice in.

Not sure how everyone else does their hands but I was told that fingers should look similar to sausages. ( I mean peanuts, not sausages!) Fingers are weird looking. The hardest thing to draw would probably be nails. Sometimes I have issues getting knuckles to look good in some sketches. I’m just thankful that my thumbs look decent!

I just finished watching Netflix’s Godzilla anime...which was decent and I also watched their Fullmetal Alchemist live action movie but I couldn’t will myself to finish it. I’ll probably rewatch the brotherhood series later on.

Flipping through art and anime got me thinking that I wanted to try drawing a chimera. I may need help to get inspired so if anyone wants to name 3 animals that I could combine to make into my own chimera then list them down below!

Thanks for stopping by to check out my doodles.

Have a great night! 🦊

I don't know about that, I've got some friends that draw "sausage fingers" (even by their admission XD) and sausages and fingers look very different...unless you shape the sausages like fingers I guess? XD

Your hands look pretty good, they're something I definitely need a lot more practice in too :)

Hahahha! I laughed so hard at this. I wrote this super sleepy last night and I meant to say that they should look like Peanuts 🥜 but I kept thinking sausages. 🤣

I will support you as an artist because you are talented.
Waiting for my Upvote to regenarate to 100% so in the mean time I'll follow you :)

Thank you so much for appreciating my work. :)

Always :)

Awesome, upvoted, follow and resteem

Like that you are doing classic practice in drawing..And like your persistence in work, bravo @vermillionfox :)

Thank you @jungwatercolor and thanks for all the encouraging words throughout my last few posts! It keeps me motivated to continue drawing! :)

I am just trying to be honest and speak what I think. And I know how much is support important in work. Even when you are accomplished in something, you need some king of approvement @vermillionfox, we all need it :) It's like fuel that keep us going..

Good job, hands are soooo difficult!
I propose octopus+mouse+snail for your chimaera ;-) Good luck!

Thank you! I still have a hard time when I have to draw them small on a body.
Oh!!! That sounds like an interesting combination!!

Great sketches! love that you managed to add some shading too :)

Thanks @allangraves! The shading lifts the image and it looks more defined with it!

hands are really difficult to draw
great job you have done.

steem on like that

hugs

Thank you. As long as I don’t have to draw an arm attached to it then I can manage! XD

Hands are tough. I've been meaning to do an extended exercise where I draw 100 hands over the course of, say, a month or two.

Anyway, chimera... crocodile, jackal, and...bat.

Ahh...100 hands is do-able in that timeframe. Good luck to you! Maybe I should get into doing a 100 of each random body part since I’m pretty terrible at anatomy.

This would also be a great chimera! I’ll try it out!

These are wonderful hands and the gif of their making is mesmerizing.

I’m glad I added them in. It’s fun for me to watch myself draw because I’m always wondering how I did it. Lol.

Hands have always been a struggle for me. It's only just recently that I can sortaaaa get them to look right without a reference photo. When I was younger I used to just skip them entirely, all my drawings were handless lol. You've been mentioning a lot of anime recently, I just finished Seven Deadly Sins. Not an anime I'd normally go for but my friend insisted I watch it and it was a pretty fun time. Good if you're into shounen.

Working without a reference is still pretty hard for me, my proportions go waaayyy off. As a kid, I used to draw my pictures low so I didn’t have to draw feet and I’d draw my people with their hands behind their backs. I heard that Rembrandt used to hide feet in all of his paintings so...there is hope for us all! 😆
I do like shounen so I’ll give Seven Deadly Sins a try. I’ve been tiptoeing around it for awhile now.

References are always key but even with them, hands are never a fun time for me. Hands and feet. I didn't know that about Rembrandt! I love that and you're right, that does give me hope.
Yeah, Seven Deadly Sins had some really strong characters minus one of the main girls. I don't normally go for shounen that I didn't grow up watching but this pleasantly surprised me.
