This weekend it is PinkPop weekend
In Holland every year there are several music festivals from which some are here already for ages.
One of them is PinkPop , which is a combination of Pentecost and Pop. This festival is Holland's most famous and oldest festival. It used to be organised in the pentecost weekend, but for some years they had to move it to a different date because of the festival season starting later and they couldn't get a good line up. Pinkpop is the oldest open air festival in the whole world.
The godfather of PinkPop is Jan Smeets , he organizes PinkPop every single year. Every year, some months before the festival, all radio DJ's are calling him to get a glimp of the line up for this year. But he manages well by not saying a word.
In all those years some great bands played on PinkPop and some already for years...

This weekend the pinkpop mania is again going wild, three day's in a row only music on different stages.
I think they have again got a great line-up:
- Pearl Jam
- Foo Fighters
- Bruno Mars
- Snow Patrol
- The Script
- Editors
- Oscar and the Wolf
- Noel Gallagher
- The Offspring
and many more.....
I never have been to PinkPop, and that's not because of the music of course, but there are alway's great recordings (live and pre-recorded) of the festival. For me that's way cooler to see all the great bands. Sometimes a band forbid's broadcoasting, but the most don't mind. The last one I remember was Rammstein.
Last year they had Justin Bieber as one of the main act's. A lot of old PinkPop fans didn't liked it because from origine PinkPop has a alternative / rocky tradition. But because of the audience was getting older and no new people came to the festival the organization has decided that they also have to line up some popular new artists. And I think (although I can't listen to Justin Bieber) they are right. You have to modernise sometimes :)

By the way he had very bad reviews because he playbacked almost everything and he didn't knew where he was. At one time he said in the microphone "Hello Amsterdam" while PinkPop isn't even near Amsterdam lol.
If you search on youtube you find a lot of concerts / performances of a variaty of artists at PinkPop.
My favorits are (among others):
- Hurts
- Rage against the machine
- Sepultura
- Foo Fighters
- Metallica
Well, I'm already looking forward to this weekend, watching a lot of great musicians at PinkPop
Have a great weekend and keep up that music !!

Some famous bands are attending; you do mean 'Pearl Jam' right, not 'Pear'?
I guess this is a little like our Glastenbury?
No I really mean Pear, you dont know them from fruity loops ? 😂😂 thanks, corrected it. I think you can indeed compare it with Glastonbury.
Sounds like a great time with a lot of bands that are worthy of seeing in live performance! I didn't know what PinkPop was till right now! Thanks for sharing! I'm sure this will be a great event to attend. Unlikely I'll make it this year! I'm happy that it appears to be an annual event. Perhaps, one day in the future I'll tell my experience of attending in ULog on DTube! Unfortunately, not this year. Still thankful for the post! I am always interested in seeing the content for this style music entertainment industry event. Upvoted!

My blog about PEARL JAM monday was about My best friend she is There now and by the looks off ot we are missing out on alot of greatness musicwise
seems like you gonna have lots of funs!!! love open concert, the list of bands you mention almost similar genre to mine!!
Oh that's been a long time since I last went there. These days I'm only going to Rock Werchter, which is kinda similar.
Rock Wechter is also a great festival. Just like Graspop, there are so many cool festivals :) Just love them...
Looks like it was a fantastic lineup! I go to a lot of concerts, but I haven't been to a proper festival in a long time. Last one was Rolling Rock Town fair. It was a good time though!
