Music is magic, music is emotion #19 : Blues

in #music6 years ago

This post is not, as many others of mine, about a certain musician. This post is about the blues.
The reason for this is that I really like the blues and I was surfing YouTube this evening to listen and view some nice vid’s. I like to search for one kind a song and after that let YouTube select for me on base of my former song. So I was playing a David Gilmour song (not really a bluesy song) but after a while I got treated with BB King with ‘The Thrill is gone’.

I sure know the song in many variations but this one was special, it was a recording at the Royal Albert hall with Slash, Derek Trucks, Susan Tedeschi, Ronnie Wood and Mick Hucknall. I have a weak for BB king, the simplicity of his music, his guitarplaying but hit’s you right on the bone… That takes some special skills… pain, suffer…yep..the blues.. In this video I also love the band a lot, they got the blues..that’s for sure.

You really got to check this one out

What I like about blues music in general is that musicians are really telling a story, if it is with their instrument or their voice.. You feel the story they are telling.
One guitarplayer that also has the blues for me is Joe Bonamassa, funny fact is that his career got in a quick-stream cause he played in the band of BB king…

A big misunderstanding about playing blues music is that it is not (only) about a dirty, distorted guitarsound in a blues chord scheme…That is not blues at definition. I have played some jam sessions before, mostly (because you can stretch a song as long as you want) blues schemes are played. But it takes some more to really feel blues..
Recently I discovered a ‘modern’ blues artist by a fellow steemian ( @melbookermusic) , his name is Eric Gales. I never heard of him before, what did I miss… His style of playing and singing…. It is old school blues…..

Eric Gales

Of course Stevie Ray Vaughan can’t miss in this post, he is all about the sound of blues… His technique, although it is not technique it is an gift and nature, is so fragile, rough and virtuoso together… That’s what’s blues about…

Although I can give a very long list here with all kind of blues musicians there is one I want to mention, it is Seasick Steve. He came from a homeless life , carried by his music and he sings about his experiences, is that blues or what…

Have a great evening, and keep the blues alive !!!

Greetings @nymia.aryn

Red house is indeed a great song, by Jimi Hendrix, Although Gary Moore did a pretty good version of it as well : )

This version gives me goosebumbs, mainly because of his screeping guitarsound but also because of his expressionate playing.... But I totally agree Jimi is inimitable. Thank you very much for your reply.

Oh yess!! I love it!! Thank you for this version ;) it is a good job too! Xxx

Oh BB King... My love for his music is just rocket high

As far as I am concerned , he is blues.... :) Thank you for the reply !

Even though the blues is a limited format the possibilities are endless - love it :)

That's just what makes it so special, mostly 3 chords...End you got taken by it.... Thank you for your reply

I'm a musician too- I haven't posted any music yet but I will soon. I'm following you. If you follow me you can check out my music :)

Always great to have more musicians on board !! Follow done ! :)

excelente post hermano lo felicito espero poder contar su apoyo

Thank you very much !!

I love the blues but more specifically blues rock, great to see a post about the blues on here. I’d post more album reviews (I’ve only done one so far) if I had more time.

I love blues as well. I love to play blues on the electric guitar. I enjoy blues solos not limited to pentatonic scales but those including all the notes of the natural major scales. Joe Satriani inspires me

Joe Satriani is one of the first guitarplayers I loved... "Always with you, always with me" is a special song for me...
